Just to check how is the current performance on eight mobile in the following locations
  • Underground (MRT trains, tunnels)
  • Concealed areas (like indoor)
  • The roaming in Malaysia
This eight mobile is tumpang which network?
Underground in MRT was quite bad for me, it will show full bar with 4G but nothing will load.
So far have not found any telco plan with consistent connectivity in MRT (I mostly take downtown/circle line).

Indoor, so far no issue anywhere in SG.

Roaming in Malaysia (JB), spotty. Some areas will have the same issue with what I described above in MRT.

Indeed, also facing "full bar with 4G when in underground but nothing loaded" on my current network which seems like a universal problem

YMMV, on the contrary, my experience with Eight's network has been quite positive compared to my previous Vivifi.

In MRT and underground, I can make and receive calls and messages, webpages able to load and can stream videos with minimal loading.

As for roaming in Malaysia (only tested with popular spots in JB), I'm able to load and open apps and webpages, make WhatsApp calls and stream videos. Though I haven't tested IDD calls.

Went to the service centre to convert my eSIM to pSIM, the lady there not bad, very fast service after queueing for awhile. Immediately lost my eSIM connection after she converted. (y)

I regret topping up too much during the free $10 promo. eight is simply have the lowest priority I feel being so cheap.
Signal is good everywhere, but the moment its a little crowded, the speed drop to a crawl. Any kind of streaming expect constant buffering. This is the same in Malaysia as well (only went to JB) the speed is terribly slow, I cannot even use it for waze or google map it will load forever. Before that I was on giga, no such issue.

Call is fine wise though, even tested IDD called. Call from Malaysia to Malaysia both using eight no issue there.
So overall data is really not good, become like the old days where you had to constantly rely on better WiFi. That or pray for luck where you are have no congestion.

Just to add on to what I experienced on Eight in Singapore and Malaysia (JB).

During peak hours or crowded areas, I have minimum or no loading times whether surfing websites, streaming videos or opening or loading apps (Google maps or ride hailing apps).

I have already used Eight for 5 months +, would not have continued using if I'm not satisfied with it.

My experience for under tunnels MRT.
East to West in the morning, speed okay. can play game
West to East in the evening (6-7pm). The speed is slow, game keep on loading. Sometime it start from Redhill to Lavender. But most of the time is Outram Park to Bugis, these few stations, M1, Giga, Starhub, Singtel all the same. Not able to watch YouTube too, need to lower the resolution to 144 then maybe can load.

Paya Lebar too. Once reach the station, speed drop. But once the train close door and start moving. Speed return. Giga also the same.

hence my conclusion.. regardless what colour of the umbrellas .. all the same

I think Singtel, Starhub and M1 may be on par, but SIMBA may be slightly under coverage, especially basement carpark

Do you mean that we can do free IDD calls using Eight Mobile line?

Good bye eight, have ported over to ZYM. Eight data speed and coverage at west side really jialat, Lakeside MRT always less than 1 Mbps. Jurong East forget about loading anything.

Singtel coverage is much better. I tested 4G to 4G for equal comparison, all at similar timings.

Lakeside MRT, tested at ~7.05am so is consistent
Eight 4G: less than 1Mbps, cannot even load webpage, whatsapp is slow to send message.
ZYM 4G: 13Mbps down, 46Mbps up. Decent, good enough for me.
ZYM 5G: 692Mbps down, 105Mbps up. Very fast.

Jurong East MRT
Eight 4G: forget about it, cannot even do speedtest.
ZYM 4G: 1.35Mbps down, 15Mbps up.
ZYM 5G: 41 Mbps down and up.

My condo B1 carpark
Eight 4G: always cannot get signal / very slow data.
ZYM 4G: 25Mbps down, 10Mbps up.
Didnt test 5G in carpark

At home, tested in common toilet
Eight 4G: 1-5Mbps down and up
Zym 4G: 16Mbps down, 20 Mbps up.
ZYM 5G: 209Mbps down, 32Mbps up.

Just an update, yesterday evening collected the SIMcard, this morning activated, number was also already ported in.
Almost no downtime, maybe during my sleep.
At home signal full bar.
4G Speed: 180 mbps up, 10 mbps down
Will test basement carpark later :)
