yes i read the FAQs.

for my case, it is advance payment for a renewal that has yet to start.
anyway i will ask Eight whether i can void the renewal that has yet to start or change the plan upon renewal,
may not be successful but never ask never know.
Can update the rest here would be good.

Going with the norm that these telcos will not refund unused portion of your monthly payment, AFAIK they won't do partial collection either. So...
  • Your latest entitlements will take effect as soon as you upgrade. For downgrade, your plan will take effect after your current cycle of plan ends.

Your latest entitlements will take effect as soon as you upgrade.
Say you decide to upgrade tomorrow, 1st April. You will be charged $18.
Your latest entitlements will take effect as soon as you upgrade.
That would mean that your payment for the month of April (which has 30 days) is $18.

For downgrade, your plan will take effect after your current cycle of plan ends.
From the above example, your current cycle of plan ends on 30th April. So, your downgrade will take effect from 1st May.

You can apply for the downgrade on 15th April, but it will only take effect from 1st May and no, you won't get a refund coz you would still be on the $18 plan for the whole of April.

So paid $8 for March, pay $18 for April, pay $18 for May onwards.

Above is what I understand from their FAQ.
Shall try this for the month of April since just nice travelling! 🥳
Okay, plan changed.
Got charged once selecting the new $11.80/mth.
After renewal take effect on 02 APR 2025, will test out the downgrade.

Eight postpaid actually works very much like prepaid. If upgrade, I don't think they refund you the balance they will just start another cycle 30 days. If downgrade after your current plan 30 days end they will just start another cycle as well no issue.

doesn't starhub connection sucks?

Im considering zero1 for sub $10 plan, but open to eight if there's something magical abt it

You made it sound like we are starhub sales. We are just users find it value for money and the line serving us good.
Actually since you already have the conclusion starhub is sxk, ,do not even ask. The options are aplenty in fact.do not be influence by the eight/Simba team.

Go to zero1 or you be more confused

No magic.
Starhub either sucks or works for you

If it works, then go for it.
If it sucks, then go other MVNO.

Feeling generous or MNO giving you promo then stick with MNO

The value and price. For $8, you get big data that can be shared with SG and MY. More voice and data roaming in other countries included. However, the sacrifices are that it is only a 4G plan, and speeds are not that fast to begin with. If you have used simba before, the speeds are similar to or slightly better than Simba.

In times like this, times are hard when cost of living are increasing, people are looking ways to decrease their monthly spend. Some are okay to sacrifice the speed and 5G for the plan affordability.

Eventually, it depends on you, if you need more roaming bundles, go for Simba or Eight. For me, I went with zym for it's coverage, speeds for almost the same price at $10.10. Though I slightly, lacks a few GBs of roaming data, as I don't travel often.

More likely it's your phone that sucks.

Change to a newer phone before you try Eight with a new line. If happy, then port in. Not happy, throw away the SIM card.

Country Network Operator (Data) Network Operator (VOLTE Calls)
Hong Kong Smartone

Hi , if in HK, Eight partner doesnt have VOLTE calls partner.. how can I make a call to the local landline or how will I able to receive call from Singapore landline?

thank you
I really don't understand if this is a trick question.

If the Network Operator doesn't support VOLTE, then you obviously need other options and you will not be able to use Eight for the purposes that you mentioned above.

Or use WhatsApp calls like normal people.
