That could be the case.
Guess need to wait awhile for 5G to be activated.

Having some issues in Taiwan from yesterday.
I have been in Taiwan for over a week.
Initially was working well, but from yesterday it's showing no signal (circle with a bar across)

When I restart or switch airplane mode, it'll have one or two bars of signal but after a minute or so it'll drop off completely.

I have tried removing the SIM card and replacing it. No difference.
If I try to select network manually it comes up with error before even display the available networks.

Any ideas?
Well it finally resolved this morning.
That's almost 3 whole days without service.
Emailed "support" which was totally useless

My friend said his sim card was since the trial started last year. Not sure why no 5G at his home yet.
eight FAQ :
"Do I need a new SIM (or eSIM)?

No — you don’t need to replace your SIM just to use 5G. If your device supports 5G and you’re on one of our 5G plans, your current SIM (or eSIM) will work just fine. "

So it appears that they never issued 4G Sims hence no change is required.
It could be his home wasn't covered or is poorly covered by 5G so he don't see 5G ?

After change plan to 5G plan
Do we need to wait a few days or change the sim card?
Then can get 5G??

I would even bet that EIGHT side didn't do anything.

He went out the house khatib mrt area nearby only get 4G+. But when he go to Yishun NORTHPOINT and 5G pop out. Then once he left northpoint it drop to 4G+ . He told me most like not phone problem. :)

What phone is he using?

I'm no expert but I feel different devices can show different results. Mine are iPhones yet I get different experiences.

This is for sure, different phones definitely provides different results.
Damages to the phone like having it dropped might affect the connectivity too even on same model of devices.

Samsung Galaxy A34 5G model. By the way he just upgraded plan to 5G to try test only. If no good then he will downgrade back to $11.80.
Well, at least he knows 5G works on his phone.

I believe the phone and its build (antenna location) + location + how you hold it affects the signal / connectivity. i ever hold my phone in such a wierd way that my VoWiFI icon kept disappearing and appearing (flashing on and off) which only stopped once i release my hands

At this point, i reckon he will probably downgrade :LOL:

If he rarely able to connect 5G. Then downgrade back the $11.80 plan is the way to go too.

so yesterday I ported my spare m1 Maxx line to eight 5G (to enjoy the 2 mths free promo). Just realised the free 2 mths is not under "recharge" section

But now the strange thing is I cant receive sms when in 5G (e.g. Healthy 365 OTP). Can only receive sms when I switch to 4G. Hopefully will resolve in the next few days, if not doesnt matter since it's a spare number for my Healthy 365.

Interesting.

Previously they gave main balance credit. Guess they changed their model already
