Anybody here who used Eight mobile roaming in China? Does it use 5G or still LTE? Tried Simba before is only LTE and is using China Unicom. I understand for Eight partners with China Mobile but is not really clear if it uses 5G or only LTE.
Only able to connect to China Mobile 4G, at least during my time in Shanghai and Suzhou. Eight will show 4G instead of LTE on your iPhone.

Thanks ya! Actually can live with LTE/4G just that speed compare with SG is just superior. I know telco prioritize local customers but I do recall having nice speed when i was using M1 roaming in china back in Shanghai early this year.

The roaming speed were decent no complains, and China Mobile reception is good wherever I went.

Or effectively $8 per 30 day cycle if you want Eight’s 5G plan. Or effectively about $2.51 per 30 day cycle for the senior plan. I’m assuming in both cases you let the residual wallet amount go to waste, so it’s a likely “worst case” price. These $4/$8/$2.51 figures are lower if you manage to apply a Shopee or Lazada coupon.
It's my secondary plan so I Dun need 5G. 4G is fast enough for me currently and satisfy my needs.

Top-up is only for that specific number's main account. Each number has its own credit wallet which is not shared even though your number could be managing other number too.

Interestingly, I have seen this “add number” function under account -> settings…. Seems to allow one account to own multiple numbers. Plus internet also can under add home internet…..

I am using this function to manage all 4 lines under my family. 1 login can see all 4 lines details. The $88 however will still be individual wallet. I just topup 4 x $88 into each line using Shopee vouchers to deduct another $40+ off total. One shot $300+ "invested" into Eight. lol

I just switched to Eight 5G to test out

went out to the supermarket and did a few random speed tests
dl 400-600 mbps but upload only 2-60+ mbps

another thing I noticed is when it goes to 4G, have to toggle aeroplane mode to get 5G back

back to my home study where I spend the most time,
connection is only 4G+, cannot get 5G at all

as this is my 2nd line, usage primarily for online shopping and traveling,
I will probably go back to 4G at the next renewal

My $88 top up was completed around 1.30pm, some 12 hours after initial purchase on Shopee. I think seller has quite a number of back log to clear. All good. Now waiting for bonus to come within the next 7 days.

And seriously, Eight roaming (Umobile) in Johor Bahru the speed is definitely faster than in Singapore 4G.
