Any of you face throttling speeds when roaming?
I’m on the 5G plan, but website loads super slowly in Bangkok and KL for me
any advise?
Try manually switching networks to see if you get any better results. In Thailand Eight roams onto TrueMove and DTAC. The same company owns both networks, but I don't think they've fully merged their networks yet. In Malaysia you can try switching between DigiCelcom, Maxis, and U Mobile. There are two underlying 5G networks in Malaysia, so if you observe any differences on 5G they'll likely be between U Mobile and the other two carriers.

It's also sometimes possible for 5G to be more congested than 4G in a given area at a given time. You can try disabling 5G to see if you get any better results.

When I was on Gomo, I never had this problem.

I will try your advise the next time I head there for work

Thanks

I have full signal 5G Maxis in KL, I have almost no internet to load WhatsApp photos
That can happen. DNB operates the largest (and oldest) 5G network in Malaysia, and there are widespread reports that it's frequently congested and getting more congested.
at Malaysia if roam under celcomdigi/maxis better to turn off 5g (both using the same congested 5g network), only umobile 5g speed is ok.
But not guaranteed. U Mobile's 5G network is still a long way from completion, and U Mobile still has to rely on DNB's 5G network in many areas.

Fortunately Eight offers 6 (really 5) choices in Malaysia: 3 partner networks with your choice of 4G or 5G. (There are only two 5G networks in Malaysia: DNB and U Mobile. That's where the "really 5" part comes from.) You can flip among these 6 choices to try to find one that works best for you, although two of the choices (CelcomDigi and Maxis on 5G) will probably be about the same.

Signed up for SIMBA on Sun 10 May for the port-in 2 free months promo. On Thu 14 May SIMBA said Eight rejected port out due to “inactive line”. Resubmitted same day, until today still haven’t ported out successfully.

SIMBA port-in promotion requires the port in to complete by 15 May 2359hrs… guess Eight won’t compensate me for their incompetence, $20 gone down the drain
Rejected again.... amazing

Anyone on Eight 5G plans but only getting 4G signal in Singapore recently? My phone has been showing 4G connection since middle of last week. Tried all the troubleshooting steps however it's still the same.

Sent them an email on Monday and still waiting for a reply.

S Telco prepared very well this time, 15 counters and long snaking queue management.

Maybe so police doesn't come down again and poke nose into their spectrum.
