May I check after the plan has expired by how many days need to renew the plan before the line get terminated?

for my line after 180 days still not terminated. I need to write in, authenticate with them I am the legal owner then they proceed to terminate my line.

How about waiting until you're on a Wi-Fi network (such as Wireless@SG) to download your iOS updates? In iOS you can choose which functions and apps are allowed to use mobile data and which aren't.

on eight, download app update is slow like <unmentionable>. Estimated 1hour.
cancelled and used Simba.
Surprise! in daily life, i only get 4G/4G+. This time, 5G, download in 6sec.

That was one solution, and I'm glad it worked. Here's another: SGAC is also available on the Web. A third solution is stop by a kiosk located near (and before) the ICA checkpoints.

just wanted to use my never ending data of 500gb per month to update......... i usually do... no issues with Zym, Circles Life haha.

for my simple needs, eight 4G/5G are adequate. Simba is my backup.
eight on value 5G, Simba on Superroam 12

last week came back to SG.

over the past week, even though i still don't get Simba 5G outside of say, airport, it feels faster and snappier than eight.
(I didn't bother to do speed tests)


Earlier, passed by the "mobile coverage bermuda triangle". All 4 telcos struggle at 1 bar or no coverage at all.
eight went to no signal (as expected, zero bar). Youtube just stalled, as expected.
Surprise. Simba went to 5G at 3 bar. Youtube resumed streaming.

Walking back underground.
both eight and simba fell back to B8 (900MHz).
Simba provisioned at 10MHz bandwidth
eight provisioned at 5MHz <<<---- this may explain the slower/throttled speed lately. Used to be 20MHz.

Dunno if this lower bandwidth applies only to eight, or to SH in general.

the problem i encountered with the web version, it it occasionally "forgets" my particulars.

in my case, it was a case of realising i had not filled in the SGAC after coming down the escalator, and in front of the immigration counters, going back up was not a real option. my fault, but still does not excuse the coverage situation.

i guess it is data availability during difficult time at difficult places.

yup, i was surprised too. as always, there are too many variables to generalise, but when it happens, it happens at the worst time and place (murphy's law).
hopefully simba has been accelerating it's infra roll out.

Why is that a problem? The SG Arrival Card is a very short form. It doesn't ask tough-to-remember questions such as your P2 math teacher's name. And even if you don't remember your own NRIC number or date of birth, you have the option to use Singpass to retrieve those details. Or you can pull out your physical NRIC, or you can manually check the Singpass app for your NRIC number. Your date of birth is printed on the passport that you must carry to cross the border, and it's also printed on your NRIC.

That's OK! You're allowed to do that! Walk up to one of the kiosks and input your SGAC details there. (ICA knows that mobile networks are sometimes unreliable and that phones sometimes don't have any battery power left.) Or stand to the side of the escalator, pull up the Web-based SGAC, fill it out, submit it, then proceed to the gate. Or connect to the public Wi-Fi network that's likely available in the arrival hall. Or if all else fails stop by the staffed ICA desk, and they'll get you sorted.

Singtel had a significant service outage this past March. "Stuff happens." Fortunately ICA provides multiple viable options to help you clear immigration even if you don't have a phone.

just sharing, on Monday, i was in CCL, anticlockwise towards Harbourfront after Bishan, my main phone is on Zym network, it could not load youtube videos or ig shorts,

but my other phone which had Eight SIM card in it, it just loaded shopee games smoothly.

I was just lucky or eight no more users liao haha

Mobile networks are sometimes congested, even occasionally down. It's helpful to have a "Plan B" (and maybe "C") that doesn't rely on your phone.

No, but I guess you missed the "I'm glad you found a solution, but..." part.

The fact an alternate SIM worked is fortuitous, not a given. Immigration halls sometimes don't have any mobile reception at all. (Some of them are great Faraday Cages. Some of them intentionally.) Sometimes your phone battery is dead. Sometimes you lose your phone. Having 2 SIMs/eSIMs is nice, but it's still one device with one battery at one time of day in one place. If you have another alternative to clear immigration, great. Fortunately, in an ICA arrival hall at least, you do.

A - Zym 5G - Spare line on my main phone, purely for data speed
B - Simba - Main line on my main phone, purely for voice roaming
C - Eight 4G - Spare line on my spare phone. Physical SIM for any friend or relative visiting SG.

2 phones is a norm these days. Occasionally you get to see 3 phones, especially in the MRT carriage.
