if just buying sp500 using cash, why not just buy the etf from the market? saves all the fees. sp500 got difference between etf and ut?
Capital my friend. My budget is $100 each time so from market $100 can buy in each time? Also sell $100 each time market can sell?

Cash unlike CPF are meant to be more flexible and liquid. The holding term should be shorter than CPF investment. Which also explain why cash investment I prefer got dividends if possible. That is my investment strategy of cuz.

Endowus takes 5 days to buy/sell, I won't call it liquid enough. Whereas if buy sp500 etf from uk market, eg. VUAA/VUAD counters, around US$85 per share only, which is slightly more than S$100. buy/sell is immediate some more.

yah.. UT is slow in this area, probably because they need to buy/sell each of the components in the UT and this will take time.

But between UT and ETF, if they serve the same purpose, eg. sp500, why buy UT? UT is usually a mix bag of stocks and/or indexes. If buying just 1 stock or 1 index ETF, why not just buy direct from the market? If there is a good reason to buy UT for these scenarios, please share for everyone's benefits. Thanks!

You need to know ETF trade like stock so of cuz it is faster. UT is really not operating in the same fast manner.

US$85 still more than $100 by a big margin for my definition. Each time I buy, sell pay fees must count in also. I buy more than 10 UT each time so every $100 must be precise if one over too much means I cannot buy others.

Anyway ppl who like ETF,stock will not like UT as trading process too slow. It is ok I have both although ETF only started recently using FSM ETF RSP with even lower fees.

Lastly I think the fastest is still casino compared to ETF and stock and UT. Casino table within 15 mins? Monies in your hand once you change the chip.

Just need to inform there are UT that do not perform against any index. They don't have index to perform against so they do not have to buy stock that is in the index. Some UT top holdings are all the popular ETF so you pay $100 get exposed to so many ETF. Just recently found a UT bond fund that buy Africa govt bonds etc.

So UT is not restricted to just stocks in the index. If it is that simple why pay extra to fund managers?

Really, the only major point in Endowus is the access to Dimensional Funds.

Aside from CPF, if you are using Cash/SRS, the only thing that is worthwhile to invest with Endowus are the Dimensional Fund offerings. Anything else, you should be using IBKR.

Actually Endowus really strong advantage is the ability to use your CPF OA to invest in the Lionglobal infinity funds.

My personal take on Endowus pro and con

1. Endowus charging fees for CPF investment is still not my cup of tea. We are trying to beat 2.5 and 4 already they should not charge at all. Charge for cash, SRS investment I can understand.

2. Their Dimensional funds while look good, the returns can be "simulated" with other funds too. Without them still ok

3. Their trailer fee rebate structure is indeed the selling point but don't go crazy using this as your main criteria to select a fund. Someone teach me penny wise pound foolish this word.

4. Their LionGlobal Infinity series using CPF is indeed attractive but if someone have investment in ETF besides just UT, you already get exposed to those index. Unless an investor want to get exposed to those indexes with both CPF and cash.

5. This is still testing in progress by Shutterfly on their Income Portfolio and testing their Cash Smart modes on my own

6. I am starting to like their daily or weekly email updates on fund info. Now I have one more channel besides FSM. This is similar to those daily email from brokerage like poems, uobkh, limtan etc but they talk about stocks/ETFs instead.

7. The Endowus website lack enough comparison tool which I usually read from FSM and buy from Endowus. Not a show stopper but if Endowus can improve on this department I no need open two tabs toggle to and fro.

8. The 200+ funds in Endowus is repeating for some just in different currency so in reality much lesser. Hope they can reach the same number of different funds as FSM so got more choices in these 2 platforms.

But they will endup earning nothing
If FSM can come out with the model of not charging for CPF investment why they cannot? But to be fair they return the trailer fee rebate to us. So Endowus need to find their ways to earn monies. They can say CPF no trailer fee rebate only cash,SRS have. Just play around with the various parameters to be profitable. Charging fees for CPF investment just add more pressure on us as we are already seeking to beat the 2.5 and 4 so we don't need additional fees to be levied. We use CPF to invest already pay bank fees and this Endowus fees just add on to the total fees for CPF investment.

In Spore CPF and cash,SRS investment are to be treated differently IMO.

All platform like brokers got pro and con so have acct in all (if possible) to get the best of all worlds. But tracking them is tedious I understand so do to your best ability and limit yourself to say about 3-5 perhaps.

Hi, for banks, we are protected by SDIC. Any idea is there any such protection for Endowus?
