Tried to start my car engine today morning but when starting, can see the dashboard lights coming up but no cranking. However I can hear click sound only.

So this means my starter motor dead or could it be other issues?

Anyway if it’s the starter motor, any idea how much it can cost? Towing to work shop?

Ride is a Suzuki Swift.

90% of the time is dead battery.

Really?

But when I start the ignition switch I observed the dashboard lights all come up and even my dash cam wired to the battery turned on.

The thing is I did not hear any crank sound, it was a click sound.

How about the headlights? If headlight OK, then probably not battery issue

best is get some helpful car to help you:
0. helper car move next close to your car
1. off both engine
2. connect - jumper wire from - terminal to - terminal
3. connect + jumper wire from + terminal to + terminal
4. helper on car engine
5. you try to on car engine
if can go to petrol koisk to buy new battery
if cannot means the starter motor spoilt or some thing like that
if cannot must tow. must get your trusted service. Distrubutor sure expensive one

I would suggest TS not attempt jump start if have no experience. It easy but done wrong may catch fire both ways.

all these are tiny power draw compared to running the starter

the power draw for all these things combined maybe 10amps
but to run the starter takes a few hundred amps

try a jump start; if it works, it's a dead battery.

lol his instruction wrong le

don't connect helper negative to negative terminal on your own car... read the manual for the recommended connection point.

No one asked, I thought these should be the first few questions to ask... How old is your battery and how old is the car?

Click click sound is normally battery cui. Use a multimeter and measure the voltage. Shld be ard 12.4V. keep a battery jumpstart power bank in the car. U never know when u need it.

Battery cui can hit u without warning. But usually the day before shld have warning signs like car take a bit longer than usual to start.

Never ever connect - terminal to - terminal. Very dangerous. Connect to a grounded nut in the vehicle instead. Better, use a jumpstart power bank instead

I dunno why so gan chiong to change motor starter... haven't diagnose already willing to prepare to spend $$$$.

Normal cars need 12.4V to start engine.

Devices able to draw power doesn't mean got sufficient voltage to start engine. 11.8V still can supply power just cannot start car.

There is a thing know as cranking voltage, your battery cannot supply enough juice to start the engine but can still power other stuffs. 99% is battery issue, battery use for 2 years likely will have this kind issue eventually.
