Alternator failure can be detected easily with an OBD gauge. Would recommend drivers to get one and monitor, once there's a voltage drop under 13v.. probably it's time to change.

Which OBD gauge you recommend?

Mileage 161k km.

So normally mechanic take the faulty starter motor or give to to the customer?

Anyway it seems like my car the starter motor has carbon deposits. May be the reason why this seems to be a random issue.

Am using Magician F835. Many are also using Lufi gauges. Either one should be fine.

As long as it shows Water Temp & Voltage can already. These 2 are critical to look out for overheating or failing alternator.

Difference for cheaper devices could be refresh rate, and some with the problem of draining battery overnight. For my Magician OBD, so far no such issue.

For recon, they will take yours & give you a recon unit. Then they will recon your unit & pass it on to the next customer.

Changed new starter cost me 480. Recon also ok. But Suzuki really last very long. 13 yrs the starter motor decided to give up..
