Never ever connect - terminal to - terminal. Very dangerous. Connect to a grounded nut in the vehicle instead. Better, use a jumpstart power bank instead
Can share your expeirence? Why dangerous?

Tried to start my car engine today morning but when starting, can see the dashboard lights coming up but no cranking. However I can hear click sound only.
So this means my starter motor dead or could it be other issues?
Anyway if it’s the starter motor, any idea how much it can cost? Towing to work shop?
Ride is a Suzuki Swift.
There is a thing know as cranking voltage, your battery cannot supply enough juice to start the engine but can still power other stuffs. 99% is battery issue, battery use for 2 years likely will have this kind issue eventually.

Confirm dead battery.
How dangerous??
I been doing it for 20 years.
I will not change battery till it dead , I always have jump start cable with me.
Got 1 time I even do a push start lol

Click click sound is normally battery cui. Use a multimeter and measure the voltage. Shld be ard 12.4V. keep a battery jumpstart power bank in the car. U never know when u need it.
Battery cui can hit u without warning. But usually the day before shld have warning signs like car take a bit longer than usual to start.
Any brand to recommend for the jump start power bank?

Battery Aug 2020. Car is about 12years old.
12 yrs old Swift should be insert key and crank type right? If it’s the battery, should still be able to hear cranking sound, my old car insert key type was like this in the past when battery was dead.
Do u have many electronic accessories or anything tapped to the battery for power? Otherwise, it’s too new to fail I’m afraid.
TS mentioned no cranking noise and battery is fairly new. Could be other problem? Not sure if buying a portable jump start battery pack to try is worth it.
Ok an update. I brought my multimeter to check battery health. It was 12.99volts, this was taken with engine off. So I suppose battery no issue.
I did read somewhere that the key need to be pushed all the way in then start the engine. Guess I didn’t do that so engine couldn’t start. But today morning I did that and engine started.
Maybe need to monitor again.

Other then voltage, cranking current is also important at starting. When battery get old, internal resistance goes higher and current reduce. Best way to check voltage is take the reading when starting the engine. May need 2 person to do the job.
