Actually I think people do not take extra care of their VWs and that’s why it doesn’t seem as durable as it should be.

For turbo engines, change engine oil every 3-5000km despite using synthetic oil. This wil keep wear down.

Change ATF every 10-15000km. Don’t have to flush. Just drop the pan and change the filter and top it up. Install an ATF cooler if possible.

Don’t step on the gas like a madman all the time. Do it in the cool of the morning or night.

Doing all this should keep the car in good shape for 10 years. Have to understand that turbocharged cars undergo extreme stress to its components, especially engine and transmission.

Drive till out warranty period and sell, then is fine.... If look to drive till day to scrap yard, then better find another brand.

Is coupe troublesome? Im married with no children. so having just 2 doors, not sure how would that affect things

Sedan more practical. Coupe look chio sloping roofline super cramp headroom. Small 4 seater coupe even worse. In future if you have a kid, I cannot even imagine how to fit a baby seat , transferring the kid to the seat and strap down..

Pray the main components dun fail during out of warranty. ie : the on board electronic stuffs.
Wear and tear parts are unavoidable.

Overkill if you don’t want it to last 10 years. Petrol ron rating only prevents knocking. That’s a given.

It is really up to individual preference. Understand your own liking don't just listen to others opinions.

For example the comments of anytime taking 520 than 330 , this is for those who want refinement , they are willing to trade Power off.

For me, I will pick 330 or M340i than a 5 series as I love power, this is just individual preference.i can compromise on interior luxury but power and handling are 2 top priority for my choice. Again this is just individual liking

There are distinct traits between BMW and Mercedes. No bad choice just your own liking
BMW is a driver's car whom appreciate driving pleasure. Very communicative, neutral and easy to drive.

Sorry bro. I disagree with u.

I drove a fairly old 320i and the steering wheel is so heavy, I thought the power steering went out of oil. Only when it picked up speed that the steering control feels lighter and less weighted.

To be fair that’s my first time driving a bmw. I’m sure there are better ones around.

That's cause 320 or 318 is comparable to an entry 5 series in terms of power. Get a 330 and above you'll notice the difference

Could it be the car steering is really having problem?

The older hydraulic system indeed is more meaty and more accurate. I preferred this than the current system, too light and not as sensitive, good for low speed control and will not be good for high speed manover .

If you have played with higher power car,>300 HP with high torque, insensitive(not sharp ) steering turning response is dangerous.

U can’t compare a 318, 320 with 330 , 330 is like 50% more power then them

The skoda superb looks very big and superb but may have problems at those killer car parks e.g. Clarke quay central, liang court, Clifford centre, orchard central. Haha
