Apple just announced a new iPad with eSIM support in China. The understanding is that there's a telco in China supporting eSIM and you need this specific model. China was the last hold up, if they can shift to eSIM, I think won't be long now

What happens if your phone cannot power on or lets say can't see the screen and you need to port the eSim over. how does one do that today given the 1 time QR code and you have only that 1 phone.
So far majority of answer says to contact your carrier. Now that would have been possible if it was physical sim no?

Now lets say you lost your phone or it was stolen instead, you can now contact your carrier and have an eSIM emailed to you possibly within hours without stepping out of your home and queuing for hours at the telco.

Pros and cons to both eSIMs and physical SIMs.

Makes sense. in the situation of a lost phone the eSim reissue is easier. But in the higher situation of a dead phone for example might not make it possible for you to contact the carrier making it more of a con than a physical sim.
Also reissue of eSim in this situation will cost you "standard script from carrier" as usual. Eventually I think its our carriers not making it worth for users to switch.

Hi there,

I wonder if there is any eSIM provider that supports Telco number, because most of the shopee site I went to only support Data plan only.

Seeing how you went to Shopee, I take it you're looking for a overseas/roaming esim? Most are just reselling HK telco sims so they don't support local number. You have to buy a local prepaid at your port of entry if you want a local number.

This has been there for a while, since MyRepublic's 5G eSIM is already using Starhub's infra.
Just a matter of time before it will be released, my guess will be probably by next iPhone release.

Singtel likely to be the slowest though they also do provide eSIM on prepaid for tourist SIM,
