Another thing to think abt is battery type and manufacturer.

like BYD is blade battery, BMW is modular battery.

manufacturer.. BYD is their own battery manufacturer, BMW uses CATL and Samsung, Merc use Farassis.

Merc and BMW revealed their battery suppliers in SK after Merc EV caught fire in SK.

Can explain why this is a good thing? "continuous features improvement" is a nice way of saying "fixing bugs all the time" issit? To me, this is a bad thing. Updating all the time means buggy as hell. Like Windows. MS got such a bad rep with their continuous "feature" updates, they changed to only 1 feature update a year. And please don't say adding new features. New features = bloatware = more bugs = reduced battery life. I always debloat new Windows laptops becoz of all the crap "features" Windows has.

Bugs fixing and add new features are distinctly 2 different things. Don't mixed them up please.


Yes I am talking about adding new software features.
For example, my car now can auto detect / predict the direction I am going to drive without manually selecting to drive forward or set reverse to drive out from parking lot. Also recently added forward and reverse auto detection while trying to park.


Bugs fixing usually being prioritized, hard push if critical. This is crucial, you don't want your car manufacturers trying to cover up for cost saving and not carry out the critical bugs fixed that could only be carried out at service centre.

Obviously EV. Just do a test drive you will be convinced

smooth as butter and no exhaust emissions. You can literally camp in the car and do your work or watch entertainment waiting for others.

Never has issues with public charging as typically only charge once weekly or when in malls dining / shopping. No need to make extra trip to any fuel stations

If you go Malaysia often then hybrid.. If those just go jb within 100km I think EVs are good choices.

I have made 2 round trips to KL with my EV. There are no charging issues, I can even drive with single charge at destination strategy.

For ultimate driving experience without worrying over battery level, I did spend 30 min to top up charges up to 80%(yes 30 minutes is what it takes to hit 80% from 20%).


Malaysia chargers coverages between JB to KL are pretty OK .

It's as if they are living in a silo, their entire world only got SG, tunnel vision.. MY and KL no EVs.

Remember that for EV, every yr your battery naturally degrades like your phone. But unlike phones, you car has a set range. In two yrs when your battery left 80% lifespan, expect to lose 20% of the maximum range. This means you got to charge more often. There is no applecare, unlike iphone. So if you drive EV, get ready for your car to lose performance and range over time.

Also, charging prices have increased significantly, compared to two or three years ago. On top of this, you need to pay PAP no-petrol tax, the resale value is also almost 0.

Nothing beats ICE cars.

Engine oso will cui over time for ice cars. No perfect one la. To each his own. For me I care abt long term costs that’s all

but when u look at engineering aspects, tolerances, reliability (yah, some ppl will laugh at it), build and comfort and other aspects, u will realize that conti does deserve its relative premium pricing over Japanese, Chinese and Korean brands.

i mean, sure, contis are "boring" cos u "cannot zhng". but i am not the target audience for zhnging cars even though I know the whats and hows.

i am all for the feel and detail of contis tbh.

I too old to act ah beng n zeng oso. I looking at bread n butter from A to B. My dad drives a Volvo but I don’t find it looks nice. Looks very uncle. S90.

Can you drive for 300KM without resting? I use the resting time to charge.

The point I am trying to drive is you don't need excessive range to drive an EV at Malaysia.
Typical range in 400-500 km are good enough.
Yes 800km range is impressive for your PHEV
