i certainly hope so. i dun wan to always have to hold it up in front of me before it unlocks and swipe up. cos for my current 7+, i just tap the touch ID while it is on the way out of the pocket and by the time i see my screen, it is unlocked n at the home screen most of the time.

This is exactly why I prefer fingerprint sensor to Iris/Face sensor.....

As usually Apple wouldn’t put them on display if it’s not available for sale yet.

For the space grey one, the chrome sides are more greyish?

For the silver one, the chrome sides are shiny chrome? Or they are the same colour?

The silver will be stainless steel colour like that Apple Watch SS model while the space gray one will be a dark chrome finish like the Apple Watch space black SS finish.

I believe you don't have to raise your phone directly in front of your face to unlock. It should work even at a certain angle.

Unfortunately that was what Craig did in his demo. That with the earlier blunder made people believe that Face ID is flawed.

I can see some people preferring this but personally I like the current implementation better as I can just see what notifications I have before deciding if I want to use the phone.

Somehow I'm worried about the Face ID effectiveness. Although there was mention that you don't have to look directly at the phone, but I do wonder how much of an off-angle before Face ID fails.

It's a common use case for me to unlock my phone when it's lying flat on a table with my face probably angled more than 45%. Or when I placed my phone low on my lap while sitting - the sensor will probably just see my nostrils and chin, and a bit of eyes. Would the Face ID work in such cases?

The fact that there were rumors of Apple working to embed Touch ID under the display but gave up eventually probably meant that Face ID was a fall-back option.

I guess I'll have to wait till Nov 3rd to try it out on a demo unit.

Obviously he has to put directly in front of the face since it is a DEMO so he has to show the feature on purpose.

It might since there are people who successfully tested it and it works. The phone is still 2 months away from launching and there will be plenty of time for them to iron out any bugs.

Have you even tried it to ascertain it? What I can tell you is, your answer is not 100% accurate.
