mean the 3 new model cannot sign with CIS?
Hi rayban,

The reply that you quoted is actually in response to Errz's question on whether iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are eligible for the 8% discount.

Question: do you really need to swipe up after the face scan and unlock is complete? Wonder if it can be set to go unlock direct to home page.

This was done intentionally in case you just want to check the time or your notifications and not go into your phone.

After listening to Craig’s interview on John Gruber’s podcast show, they implemented the swipe up cause for most people, they might want to see the notifications on the lock screen instead of ‘unlocking’ and jump right into the home screen or the last app they were using.

actually that makes sense now. imagine if i place the iPhone X on the table on a stand and facing me. i wouldn't want the X to unlock everytime i look at it.

a swipe would be a confirmation that the user wants to open something or reply message on the phone.

Yeah makes sense. You could also pace it flat and not looking at it directly to view the notifications, as I do right now. If only i know if there's an accessibility function where you can set it to immediately unlock to home screen.

Tomorrow's pre order day and I still haven't decided. Arghh! First world problems. Lol.

That's what LED Notification, Ambient Display or Always On Display is for....which the iPhone X doesn't have.

Btw, this phone comes with Tap to Wake right..? It doesn't show the notifications this way?

Honestly despite quite a fair amount of negativity I'm very excited about Face ID. It resolves some pesky moments when Touch ID is simply unusable (eg wearing gloves or oily/wet fingers).

There's tap to wake and raise to wake.

But the need to swipe is there for good purpose.

If not you tap or raise just want to peek at notification, the moment you look, the screen unlock to home page.

So to unlock the phone now, need to perform 3 steps...

Tap to Wake, Look at the phone so that Face ID unlocks the phone, and then Swipe Up... I'm already starting to miss the fingerprint sensor.

Anyway, if anyone here is using an Android phone, and wants to know how it feels like to use an iPhone X, you can try this.

Killer feature of iPhone X has been ported to Android!

Don't even have to tap to wake. Just bring up the iPhone X and then slide up the lockscreen. It will feel naturally.
