Maximum currency into taiwan is 60k ntd, so anything more, they will want u to declare. Then, still up to individual. Just like Singapore, do anything but dun get caught.[/QUOTE

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport-Arrival declaration
like to share my experience if you think changing at arcade is not your choice method.
1) airport rate is worse than arcade rate.
2) most bank do not exchange sgd bill for ntd. usd, eur, hkd, cny and jpy bills are fine though. rate is better than airport for sure.
3) if you want to exchange with sgd bills, do it at dbs bank. rate is the same as the one you can see from the website, better than any money changer in singapore. i think the reason is because ntd is a non deliverable currency. passport is a must.
4) atm withdrawal is fine as well but make sure you activate your overseas withdrawal facility first. rate should be worse than bill rate cos it's thru plus or cirrus and charges are waived. for dbs atm card use plus, posbank cirrus. i regretted not bringing enough sgd bills.
5) money changer is difficult to chance upon. maybe bcos i don't know the place well.
hope everyone has a better money exchange experience with this information.
add on :
3) Theres an age limit to change currency at DBS taiwan. too young not allowed. (forgot whats the age limit, 16, 18 or 21)
5) Some hotels (e.g rainbow in xmd) provide currency exchange. but do expect their rates to be lousy. (since banks don't open during the weekend, and you run out of $ then no choice)
Can I ask where is this arcade which I can change twd? Change in Singapore rate higher compare changing in taiwan?
