Try stacking with the Fiio E12 or TubeAmp TA1...

I tried with the E12, was decent. But once paired with a tube amp, completely different story (in a good way)

Maybe the E12 DIY will be a different story...

Both should be fine but I'll recommend you to use a Class 10 if possible so that higher res files can be played faster.

I compared with a Samsung Ace 2 (yes yes, I got to get that review up here soon!) and can say that the SQ of both devices have different focuses per se (X1: treble, micro-details, Ace 2: decent overall sound). For me, I prefer the X1's SQ but it may be different for you.

Also must consider if you are ok with transitioning to a device that has no touchscreen. I am ok with either but not all users are.

As always, can pop down to E1 or AV ONE to test out and find out
