Noticed there's a selling limit of $50,000 for SGX CDP stocks.

Does this mean that if my stocks value is above that, for example - $55,000 - I cannot sell all within one transaction (+3 days)?

You can send FSMone your CDP statement to increase your sell limit

Thanks, but found the sell limit a bit silly because the stock's real time value can go above my CDP amount, and then I won't be able to sell at high profit. :s22:

Apparently that’s in place to avoid you accidentally short selling too grossly.

Because they can’t see real time how much you have in your CDP

U mean other cdp brokers do not require u to provide proof for buy/sell limits?

U just started trading ah? Standard practise leh.
And no, they don’t just zhun zhun match your CDP (like u said).
The limit is based on multiple factors , your trading history , your cdp holdings , your payment history , etc. And most importantly how much RISK they are willing to take with an individual account .

Actually they 'zhun zhun' matched my CDP, even though I requested for a higher limit. Hence the annoyance.

My other brokers raised my limit to whatever I wanted without questions. (Of course it wasn't a ridiculous unreasonable limit..)

Hur hur hur, your Amt is small isit?
I up limit a few times already and now it is lagging my cdp holdings. Even after showing them the latest .
Other brokers also can’t seem too troubled with your limit requests .

?

Don't understand what you are trying to say. Your point being?

My amount is bigger than whatever FSM's default limit is.

So if you did managed to "up limit a few times" and it's STILL lagging your CDP holdings, isn't that a problem if you need to sell at profit?

thanks for informing.
would take note to ask for an increase to the default sell limit just in case.

Unless u plan to get rid of it very soon, it will slowly grow over time?

yes i am planning to hold on to this long term. the exposure to overseas markets is actually the reason why i chose this over SYFE. i'm just concerned (as a new investor) whether or not the fund's illiquidity should be something i should be worried about.

Of course your limit now is higher than the default limit, why else would you be requesting for increase. duh.
However, if the limit is still relatively small , brokers will have no issue ceding to your requests.
Yes, it is inconvenient, but not a problem. I have a sufficient limit with my regular broker. The limit is too large for FSM to stomach thats why its lagging.
Back to the point about each broker having risk appetite for each account.
