yes i am planning to hold on to this long term. the exposure to overseas markets is actually the reason why i chose this over SYFE. i'm just concerned (as a new investor) whether or not the fund's illiquidity should be something i should be worried about.

The liquidity isn’t that bad what? It’s like 6-digit daily?

I want to try investing in US stocks. Want to check is there any delay to FSMOne prices displayed for US? Any differences between this and SCB Online Trading?

are you concerned regarding the liquidity of REIT ETFs such as CFA?

thats right, reddevil0728 had answered most of your doubts.

its good to have a little REITS on your portfolio,
like 10% - 20%. :)

hello guys, do you all leave the funds in the cash acct. or auto sweep acct. huh usually?
from what i do understand, Auto Sweep acct. auto converts the currency for transactions hence skipping the manual step of converting if using the cash. acct.
of course the interest% difference between the cash acct. & auto sweep acct. is nothing, but i am just wondering do you guys leave it in the auto sweep acct. since it's easier for currency conversion?

thanks!

Hi all,

I dont really have a very big portfolio/war chest and would like to start investing in US ETFs. Which would be the most cost effective platform? FSMOne, IB, Saxo etc?

Thanks in advance!

IB is cheapest IF you can hit the monthly activity fee.

I see... just starting out and here is what I have:

CFA
ES3
IWDA
EIMI

Each has a weightage of 25%. Is that a bad allocation?

well done,
Reits, STI, global and emerging.
you are almost 95% covered.

I'm also an ETF person.
maybe you can look into Tech Etf, not bad to grow your money

Will consider! However, I would like to ask for advise on when to sell an ETF? I am on DCA for es3 and cfa and have incurred quite massive losses in my first month for es3. Lost like $50 so far...

$50 is massive??? You put in $100 is it? So 50% gone.

Sell when you want to take some profit or need the money. If not you sell also do nothing with the money and later the price keeps going up

massive loss? $50?:s22::s22: I foresee you will panic sell when you see -10% or something.

hmm.. seems like since vested then i should just continue to hold for a while ba. there's a chance that might be able to lower my overall WAC this month since ES3 is comparably lower now.

If you’re planning on starting your investment journey with index funds, you should be planning to hold >10 years. This isn’t a get rich quick scheme, likely you will see a few -30% losses along the way.
