ok thanks for the reply, but will buying RAMs from them be expensive? saw the price from branded shops like fujitsu selling $100+ for a 1gb RAM thats like overkill, wonder why is it so expensive.

Well, it is the measure of security at heart vs the money spent.

I always trust the resellers of Fujitsu, those that always participate in the Road show by AsiaPac. :D

i wants to upgrade my laptop's ram too......sorry i m noob, thought fujitsu doesnt manufacture rams? i remember being told that my existing ram is hynix brand and i saw shops selling 2gb ddr2 kingston/cosair for like $65 only ? so if i buy that and ask the service centre/friend to install for me is considered violation of waranty?

It is better to grab your laptop model along with the RAM module model and get from Fujitsu Resellers. Then you will be safe. :D

Region Free for Fujitsu Notebook

I have S7110 with Panasonic UJ841 DVD drives.. I was searching for region free solution.. because the Notebook is used often both in Singapore as well as in UK...

have used AnyDVD and other software without much success.. cannot also find much support from Singapore Agent and also from the Net about flashing the DVD BIOS.. understand the solution is to change the DVD drive to other model..because the orignal Panasonic is a pain in the neck to flash. someone tried but have to throw away the Panasonic drive in the end...I called the support centre here in Singapore, they said they don't give such support because they were told not to by Fujitec (but people are selling region free softwares everywhere... except they cannot be used on Fujitsu with Panasonic DVDs)...

anyone managed to turn the Panasonic DVD into region free?

not expert in this field, Fujitsu notebook normally come with ROM with regional code, it is to international agreement to control piracy bla bla I have not heard of any program to change them into regional free, if have please share I also want to know :D

anyway from my knowledge we cannot change the rom, even if you use up the regional changes allowance (5 time) the service center also do not have to ability reset, I may be wrong

I got my bay battery from Digital Asia direct. Normally for stuffs like Battery, RAM or CD-ROM, most of the Fujitsu resellers has it. Whille normally people do not buy back Fujitsu case or keyboard. If need to, normally people go for 3rd party. Fujitsu might not see this as a demand to sell accessories so they concentrate on selling hardware instead.

What kind of anti-virus are you using?

Why is your anti-virus not helping you? Have you been installing alot of Spywares software that infected your computer?

Some of the virus don't allow one to erase or get rid of from XP system...one will need an independent or separate system boot from and mounted on CD or thumbdrive...unreachable by the viruses in the harddisk... this way no virus from the harddisk will have a chance to lock the computer from erasing them... If you have a working computer... goto this blog site to make a BartPE boot CD...

http://skyjuiceiswater.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-build-bootable-troubleshooting.html

use Mcafee Virus scan... while you are there, do a spyware cleaning using Adware... these 2 softwares will usually get rid of most viruses...

The other way is to restore your system to an earlier date that you know is clean...
and then run the virus scan again to get rid of the virus...

Understand it is not the rom in Fujitec Notebook... but rather the flash rom in the Panasonic or Matsu****a DVDRW drive... presently, still cannot find a firmware with correct code that can flash this rom....found a firmware for SONY VIO that use the same model and make of DVDRW but was told that cannot be used for FUJITSU...will wait for someone coming up with tested firmware...

The other way is to use this software from
http://www.dvdfab.com/dvd-fab-platinum.htm

It removes almost all protections from the DVDs and enable DVD files to be recoded in normal format for use in any DVDs...Tried on many PCs but never tried but it should work for Fujitsu notebook also...
