V5545 belong to the amilo family which normally sell in europe, amilo model in asia is very rare but I believe fujitsu is starting to sell them in asia region already, anyway all fujitsu come with 3 yrs warranty, but there mayb a differents cover of warranty when it come to international warranty, so just check before purchase, anyway amilo is made in Germany ... just like fujitsu is made in JApan .... :D

Personally I also do not know how to answer you, it really depend on what model you looking for and what you are comparing at... most important is does the notebook met your requirement and what you buy them for ... and does the design suit you... :D

BSOD can be due to alot of issue, do you have the BSOD error code? if it just flash and restart too fast to see, you can try this method

right after fujitsu logo when you boot up, press F5, a boot menu will appear, select "disable autorestart upon system failure" and boot to the system, this way the system will hang at BCOD where you can see the error code example "STOP 0x00000077" this code is important as it will give you a guide what type of problem you are looking at or you can check on the internet regarding on the error code.

what you mean by "vendor lock in crap"? anyway S7110 can upgrade the hdd quite easily, just make sure you have purchase the correct type of hdd :D

Call up the service center to see if they have a record, they will check by the Serial number, or you can see you invoice, it will state clearly on ext. warranty, fujitsu warranty cover 3 yrs labour 1 yr unless you buy ext. warranty.

2 beeping sound = the system will display your error on screen example "fan error" and will ask you to press F1 to continue or F2 for bios.
4 beeping sound = ram faulty or mainboard cannot detect you ram
continous beeping sound = keyboard hard disk error

anyway sent to the service center to check

How much was your upgrade? Haha!

It was bit expensive... adds up to ard $250 that time...

Nowadays the upgrade like tat costs less than $150.

I juz took the starhub 299 laptop offer last month.
But i can only collect the lappy on Mar the 1st.
With a lower monthly subscription and a cheaper lappy.
I hope the new lappy would not be too disappointing...

Cheers.

The pricing seems fair, I presume it is not done by Fujitsu itself?

BSOD message is?
Try reseating the RAMs, put the larger capacity 512MB stick in slot A and the 256MB in slot B.

yea... but my 1st ram (256MB) is built into the mainboard.
so my new ram (512MB) was plugged into the empty slot...

Oh, this is the C2000 series with the quickplay multimedia functions.
Yes, only 1 free slot, my error.
Reseat your 512MB RAM and run some memory loading tests programs.
Otherwise could be some software conflict issues.

just wondering, has anyone here ever sent your laptop in to fujitsu for servicing?
2 weeks ago, i sent in my laptop for servicing due to some problems.
they told me it would take longest one week to fix..
after a week i called them and they said they were waiting for the parts, i would have to wait another week.
when i called them up, they said that they were still waiting for the parts and it would take another week more..
have any one else experienced this before?

Where you sent it to? Funan or Henderson, normally when I sent in a notebook for repair, the engineer alway tell me if there is to wait for parts, its around 2 weeks, and if its shortage parts that need to ship from japan(as they claim) sometime will take 2 weeks or more.

I sent in notebook on behalf for the user, normally I get it around 2 weeks time, some time within a few days, got once I waited 1 mths before the part arrive. :D
