not bad. Bought 1 during IT show. Using it now as desktop replacement.

Mainly for word processing, internet surfing. Kind of heavy, can't really carry it around.

Wide screen and decent performance, no complaint so far :)

btw wonder how do u read the model number and all? E stands for what or S stands for what? does the NP at the end of the model number means it is custom-made for NP students?

I'm currently looking at S6410 and S6510. Anyone has any comments?

My budget is around 3k and I want the best specs with good battery life and weight for my price range. What other models can I consider?

take the S6510 as it has faster Processor and slightly longer battery life and much lighter too

i'm not that sure though, it can't boot to windows and read "disk error" upon start up, no blue screen. guess i need to go down to Funan today :/

The HDD did not crash but the software crash.

oh, thanks mate. isn't quite sure of the problem.

so u r a SP student? u r able to buy from NP??

Btw, the laptop is it come with Vista? Most likely you need to create your own recovery dvd first and then they will delete the partition for u and reclone for u again. May I know the current status of the laptop?

I've a Lifebook E8410 running Vista Business. Some problems:

1. Pressing Fn-F6 and Fn-F7 (reduce/increase brightness) does not work. The green brightness level indicator is displayed and changes on the screen, but the LCD brightness remains the same. No change at all. The only way I can change the brightness level is in the NVidia Control Panel.

2. I set the power options to switch off the LCD after 5 mins. The LCD goes blank, but the back light is still on and does not go off. It's wasting battery and probably reducing lifespan of the LCD.

3. The card reader does not recognise 2Gb SD cards. Card is not faulty as it can be used with digicam and can be read by other PCs and notebooks.

Anyone has ways to fix these problems?

TIA

can i know why so? there's also a big difference in pricing so why buying from school ain't ideal? i have no idea on all these specs diff and sch warranty comparison. thus need to be sure before i make a purchase.

Perhaps, it is just my personal instinct. My group of course mate actually proven to me that people whom buy from the school does go to the service center more often than I do. For the whole 3 years in Poly, I only been to the service center twice. While they patronise there like they go clubbing. hehe~

Well, this situation maybe coincidence or rather it does not means all machine from the schools are expected to go through such torment.

So, it is up to personal preference and belief.
