I agree. westgate experience is much better, though you may find some ah lian there trying their best to keep their cool with the nonsense customers they are serving... :D

I have said many times in this forum, that all samsung service centres are not under samsung directly but merely a 3rd party agent running the service centre. As much as possible, they hold the branding of samsung and that people expect samsung to control their service agent but in reality its not the case.

If you guys got issue, don't argue with the service partners cos life is not moving forward, i would say drop samsung an email and go through samsung will be a much better option, though its longer a journey than to convince the manager at service centre.

Likewise, all SES also not under samsung directly, if you have bought from SES before, the receipt will print "handphone shop" logo and other partners. Its like going to APRs to buy apple products.

So in conclusion, i find it amusing that people still bother to drama with service partners and service agents and post their drama here, i would have solved the issue by emailing samsung customer care directly while you guys busy typing wall of text kb-ing about the experience.. :D:D

Hope this helps.. :D

Not everyone knows.......... see the name have Samsung will automatically think Samsung controls everything

Managed to change a brand new set due to red tint on edges at westgate. Service was good, just that the waiting time is long, took a whole 2hrs to do that, as they will update software, fail, next set, repeat this till i got a good screen. They were quite patient, open 4 sets of S8+ then found the set without red edges.
Talk to them nicely, they will change for you.

Good to hear this.
Only 1 good set out of 4...it seem the red edge ratio is quite high. i guess most who kena also don't know or see it as a problem.

i can foresee westgate SES will be swamped with people like you and that one fine day, they will stop exchanging 4 sets per customer. :D

I went down to Westgate yesterday with two sets of S8+ both with red tint at the edge and top bar. They rejected exchange for both sets.

What reason given?

both of mine were affected with red edges at both sides and top. at the same time there is a red patch at the upper middle portion of the screen.

the RHQ staff claims that there is no red patch or rather, he could not see any and their calibration machine did not detect any abnormality in any uneven colour calibration.

if the firmware is able to make the edge and top bar blue, it is normal due to the edge screen. they will deem the phone as defect only if after tweaking the 'screen edge color balance' and all the edges and top are still reddish.

Yah, sammy is a big hitter with respect to influence on this email tech sites. They need to b on sammy good books to survive. I just bought my s8 today n only some Street shops allow u to change set if got tint. Latest news is most will try n tell u you just apply the latest sw update n the tint problem will go away. My advice is to still insist on getting a set up r happy with before u go

Looks like not really a good time to get S8/+ as it seems like lottery to get a non-fault set. Samsung must be doing heavy PR control since all the major android sites only talk about the software fix but not talk about whether the update actually fixes or not.

Plus they killed the ufs 2.1 article like no sites picking this problem up.

Set display to basic, ask them see it themself. It very can be seen easily. If they insist u to use adaptive display, just tell them, u will be using basic mode. Dun need to go that special menu. Make sure its in a whit background.

Did u set to basic instead of adaptive display? Tell them u only will use basic mode. I did that with my set, and it went through.

Took the phone back to Samsung the third time. Showed them that even with the software fix it doesn't work on other display modes except adaptive display. Finally they did an exchange with me. New phone out of box without software fix looks good.
