it doesn't have the GPS to measure distance. you need the phone as GPS.

If got 3G version then can. Gear S1 got 3G version and can be brought out and used alone. Don't know why Gear S2 don't have 3G version

ok thanks thanks for ur replies. consider again but really like the watch cos it just nice suit my small wrist and looks very nice and the other features.

gear s2 3g version uses e-SIM, which singapore telcos have yet to implement. it will be implemented very soon in the future though..

After much deliberation, esp on my need and use, I finally bought my Gear S2 normal version dark grey.. I figured I won't be bothered to switch or change strap .. haven't got the chance to start setting up yet..

Every rubber strap you buy from samsung is at $68.. i wouldnt buy though.. hahas..

I used the S voice to send text and it worked beautifully. .however, I tried calling and it does everything as far as the watch is concerned (show the icon that it is calling) but on my phone nothing happens (Note 4). Do I need to switch on my data? Or is it a bug?

The thing is running Tizen, so if you bought the gear s2 for apps variety, you are out of luck. That said, the native apps on these Samsung Gears are generally good enough, and a whole lot more reliable than those running Android Wear. I'm using a Huawei watch now, but I cannot help but miss my good old reliable Samsung Gear 2 (not the S2) which has no lag and functions reliably in making and answering calls.

After using the gear s2 for a week, I must say even though tizen may not have so many apps, overall the connection and performance are very smooth and good. I think Tizen could be a good move for Samsung perhaps for the watxh. They just need to improve it and develop more..
