Any reason for not looking at reits below $1.50? Tot you should look at the nav instead?

Nav doesn't really matter to me cause cheap stocks only get cheaper...after that major sell down last may, price weakness of certain reits is all too clear. Too busy with other commitments in life to go and look at all the nav of other reits. Starhill global and sph reits are good example.

I have a colleague who has the exact opposite theory. He never buys anything above one dollar. His explanation is that one dollar can become ten dollar but ten dollar become one hundred is more difficult.

He is holding most of the reits are rock bottom prices like DW.

i think it will also depend on the capital that one would have.
for people with not much capital yet want some diversification, it makes more sense to put eggs in different (cheap) baskets instead of one (expensive) basket.

but whether the expensive basket is stronger than the cheap one is another story then.

So he doesn't have quality reits like cmt, fct and plife?
Won't classify suntec as a good to hold but price wise is slowly climbing.

Using a trading concept on investing is a major mistake for many investor.

Cheap stocks only gets cheaper is a trading term, used to warn traders not to buy a downtrend stock.

In investing, you want to buy a value stock as cheap as possible.

Follow Warren Buffett's term, be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful.

If a good REIT or stock falls below its intrinsic value, I want to buy, not avoid.

You are confusing yourself if you listen to traders when you want to invest. You should find out who are the investors and listen to them.

I also avoid price weakness leh. I think its important to avoid technically weak stocks.

I use both FA+TA
both say buy, then I buy. If FA say very good but TA say no good, I avoid the stock and move on.

[GPGT]My brilliant stock market selection method! Combine their power together surely will give me a lot of edge over Mr Market

Here is my brilliant stock market selection method.

My method is like this:

For me , i ish combine both TA+FA
both say buy, then i buy. Brilliant idea isnt it? Combine their power together surely will give me a lot of edge over Mr Market. How to lose money like that?

Dw portfolio is a good enough guide however I don't buy all the reits he has.
when one have limited funds, is best to be selective.

Hi Slowdown

I think this is a massive misconception that many people has.

The price, if any, gives an indication of whether the volume would be higher thats all. $1 going to $10 and $10 going to $100 is independently exclusive. It does not mean one has a higher chance of happening more than the other. If a $10 stock goes to $100, it usually can do a stock split and makes its stock back to affordable price again. SPH is one good example which has done a stock split in the past.
