690-670 will be hang, drawn and quartered.

660 and below will be sold to slavery.

*Insert sinister laugher*

Price probably remain the same...

Some distributors not happy with Gigabyte drop price & Zotec selling cheap. :s13:

Might have price war.

Sell cheap? I am starting to feel some kindda price fixing here among the distros from what you said.

Point is, the SRP for a reference card is USD 250. They are selling with a third party fan, for almost SGD 200 bucks more. Even at SGD 409, there is still considerable margin to earn.

So to say that its cheap, I rather think of it as more reasonable.

sooner or later the distros will realise that they are losing lots of sales to online merchants. its either u reduce profit margins and increase volume or the other way around...

People NEED to start buying online or other places before the distros realise and start to feel the pain. Come mo, how many yrs have this been discussed?? More than 2 to 3 years liao and what actually have happen??? Nothing.

Price war is good for consumers!!!

Cause I feel many Nvidia cards are way overpriced!!

I think there needs to be a win win situation. Consumers cannot always win at the expense of distros. But clearly when quoting prices for recent releases like the GTX 770 and 760, local distros are pricing it through the roofs and way over their heads.

With information and options easily available at this time, its not hard for locals to know that they have been overcharged badly and go elsewhere to get their hardware. Everyone is trying to make a living too, so why sabo locals, thinking that we are at their mercy.

The problem is when something new comes out ppl will instantly buy. Ask ourselves this question.

How fast the Titans and 780 fly off the shelves.

People are just willing to pay top $$$ no questions asked.

Let's face it. If no one ask, ppl will still pay for the 760s.

That's true. I guess there will always be people who can afford, not willing to go through the hassle/ waiting time, and worry about local warranty. The distros are here for these reasons, but clearly overpricing it badly to provide such convenience in some cases.

I believe this latest amazon free shipping to sg will do damage to distro regardless of what, just a matter of how big. People are starting to realise local electronic products are way overpriced. Some of the items' prices here are almost 80% more than overseas. it just doesn't make sense even if it's local warranty, considering the amount of money saved allows you to rma overseas twice!

One good example. See how much amazon sell for Mechanical keyboards then compare to local distro prices. Got a S-brand Keyboard difference can as high as 60+sgd. 60+sgd can get you a gaming mouse already..why are we paying so much more i really dun understand wor..
I understand our market small so charge premium is okay de. Its just economics at work. But when overcharge so much i really :s22:

actually gigabyte 760 for $409

i find it quite reasonable

amazon sells it for 260 usd, using 1.28 exchange rate
its about 330

80 dollar difference i would say still acceptable, take the shipping, rent etc blah blah blah

we should give credit to CDL/giga honestly for keeping it as low as possible for initial launch, as usual you want to be first then you pay abit of premium

the question lies with particularly one brand which i shall not name, how come every of their product so much difference? :s22:

that is what i would say is unacceptable

like what most people say, how exp there will still be people buying on day 1.
look at hdd can already :s13: day 1 sold out alot of time

i always used to buy out of era gpu, clearance etc now a days ? dont see that happening alot also

Actually buying from US is cheap but when you RMA, please note that Gigabyte, MSI, ASUS, Asrock etc in US will not send the repaired items to SG. They only send to US local address free. You've to find someway to ship back the item.

In SG most brands sold by local distributors. There're no official manufacturer offices here to take care of the RMA. So extra costs to employ technicians.

Well, Asus has a big office here but.......

I think the main question that consumers will ask now is whether the gigabyte card is really at $409 and if yes, where? Will the other brands follow suit with more reasonable pricing strategy too?

This is as vague a question as asking Malaysian voters why you voting for Pakatan Rakyat now? Last time the Barisan Nasional was dominating...

That said, even if distro dare to price the GTX760 at S$5XX. There will still be people buying off the shelf.
