I already booked my flight tickets for Nov way before this virus thing exploded

Supposed to go Japan next week, that is cancelled

Hopefully Nov will be fine, really bored not being able to travel.

If they can develop a quick test or something or a medicine that can kill this virus quickly..

Do you notice any covid/pandemic clause in your Nov ticket? Suppose if we book now and the whole situation still stays the same in Nov, can we ask for refund or reschedule? At the moment, SG is still banned from entering JP.

every country has banned foreigners from entering. its not just a Japan thing. Only reason there are still flights are either to bring people back, or move people to said destination for long-term.

I haven't book flights for Nov yet. Still waiting till travel return to normal.
SQ said they will cancel most flights until end of June.

Saw somewhere in the news recently that expensive airtix will be the norm when countries open up.

Anyone "banzai" enough to proceed booking for Nov-Dec? Highly unlikely SG will be remained banned by then unless there are more JT clones.

Seriously though, looking at how Japan is handling the situation, maybe not advisable to go there until at least next year. The actual no of case is probably vastly under-reported. Even the Olympics next year is a big question mark...

Personally I was planning to book a trip next June . But I decided to put it on hold till 2022.

Give it another year to settle down and see how things goes , we are fighting with an unknown enemy with no end in sight....

Take the time to save up and go for a good one when it’s safe to travel again.

Stay safe

This year is basically a no go for travels.

Come 2021, perhaps only the second half of the year seems the safer choice to have a vacation.

Japanese outside Tokyo not really concern. My family felt COVID is done. There is a cure, get infected can get treated with Avigan if really serious there is backup remdesivir. Didn’t clear clinical trials? They not concern at all.

As for tourist if the ban not lifted also cannot go. Go and need to quarantine for 14 days holiday over already

Japan seems to be planning to exit its state of emergency

either way seems like they are controlling pretty well.

Those are not cures. They are treatments that may help you recover depending how serious you are. The latter during trails shortens recovery by a few days only.

Yes, so it seems.

My home country (UK): population 60 million, corona deaths 30,000

My resident country (Japan): population 120 million, corona deaths 500

... happy to be living Japan in these times

With lockdowns and school holidays, how do those families cope with young children living in a small space?

In the UK lockdown is legally enforced, only allowed out for grocery shopping, medical visit, 1 hour exercise in open-air each day, and it's been in place for 6 weeks. Everything 100% closed except essential workplaces, grocery shops, medical.

Talking to my friends and family in UK it's much easier if you have nice house with more rooms, and garden. If you live with a big family in a small apartment (like HDB) and no garden it's tough.

Here in Japan it's easier. Lockdown isn't legally enforced, most workplaces and many shops and restaurants are open and Gov only requests reduce social connection by 80%.

When will people start to be confident to travel again?

Let's say if flights resume, travel ban is lifted and most businesses resume.

Do you think there will be some strict measures before the government lifts the travel ban and allow people to come in?

Currently their border control measures are in place until end of May. But it remains to be seen if they will extend it.
