In light of the current world events, I am now looking for solar power banks.

My rationale is this. If SHTF, then at least i can still power on my phone or my laptop from the solar power bank. I know it sounds extreme but it is a hedge in the event there is no electricity.

Get solar panel to charge your powerbank. The solar panel on a powerbank is so small that such products are just a gimmick.

If SHTF and the power network grid is down, then your telco's cell site or tower will probably be not working.

That means you can only play Solitaire on your laptop and Snake on your full charged phone.
True. Power grids maybe down, But you can always look photos you have etc.

So not worth it? i thought they can be used to power up.

The solar panel on a powerbank is perhaps maybe 1-2w output. For your reference, to charge a 10000mah powerbank using 18w Quick Charge needs about 3-4hrs.

Either you watched too many of the doomsday or zombie movies...really, power grid down?

I use couple of power banks, and I've been testing a lot of them, and honestly one of my favorites - Villain best power bank 20000mah with Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type C. As I know, this powerbank has been tested and certified by the world's leading safety certification organization, and it's pretty important for me. It also has nice LED indicator, which can inform about power level of battery pack and charging status, and it's awesome.
