I believe that it was Open Surface insistence that the Nexus 7 warranty is International despite what is mentioned on Amazon and Asus Facebook accounts that probably quite a number of people bought from Amazon or Google Play directly and very much screwed over that.

Open Source is currently redeeming itself by coming up with their own warranty plan for units sold by them.

I am glad that I did not fall for that but sad that many did.

all these are assuming their sets are faulty.

what's so hard to ship them back to amazon? at most 20-30sgd with singpost normal postage + tracking. the savings (price + opportunity cost) >>>> the cons

Problems can happened. I am not so concerned about the issue when it comes to the unit coming DOA. That I am sure Amazon can handle it. That is really a non-issue.

If the unit goes faulty 3 to 6 months after the purchase and in which case, you would probably need to send it back to Asus USA for servicing, in which case you would probably need to cover transportation cost both ways and be without your unit for when the unit is being shipped to and from Asus USA. Of course, the other option is to sent it into Asus Singapore and pay whatever repair and service cost they may levy.

Of course, it be great that nothing happens during the warranty period.

Actually, i just called Asus @ +65-66369163 to check on my LTE set that i bought from TOS and they told me that my set is covered under international warranty..

The only ham jim is my set is on 1800mhz LTE but then it has served me well on Singtel's 4G data sim

Selling 2nd gen 16gb Nexus 7

Was supposed to arrive on the 16th, but after waiting 18 days for the stupid delivery from Amazon, i decided that i don't want this device anymore because of their sucky delivery service.

The new estimated arriving date for the new Google Nexus 16gb is on the 19th-22th October. But I plan to sell it anyways for $310. Anybody interested can contact 909two837one.

Amazon decided to give me $5 promotion code as "compensation". Sorry, won't be getting anything else from there anymore ~

Recently, I called ASUS Service center about one US LTE unit and they said it is under warranty.

When I told them the set is purchased from Google Play USA, then they said it is covered under regional warranty.
