anybody have batter drain issue lately ? my N7 battery now seems never get full even charging overnight only add up to 50% and the tablet feel warm (not use), weird..

try off and charge.

I used to be able to install apk and firefox on mobile can run flash ..on Jellybean, not sure now any difference..

My sincere advice is not to get Nexus 7. My 1st generation Nexus 7 has failed to power up after batt was drained out. All combo of resets were tried but to no avail. A very common and widely known problem on Nexus 7 after Android 4.2 upgrade. Lots of discussion in many forums

Was at Asus Service Centre today. Becos my set is after warranty period, was told that it will cost $60 to just inspect, cost of the repair will be on top of the $60 !!! Told the customer service officer that it is ridiculous for a device at only sub $300 to be repaired at such hefty cost !!! He denied about quality issues with Nexus 7. BTW, I was there at 1130am (it opens at 9am) and my Q number was 176. Based on Asus small market share, it tell you that there could be some questionable quality issues in Asus product.

I have a paper weight with me now, "thanks" to Asus. No more Asus product for me anymore.

I had problems too, i just had to charge it like 1hr, then pull out the plug and then plug it in again then it will show. Sorry you have to go through that, but i agree with you on this that i will not get Asus made Nexus device again. 3 days after i get it my screen had problems, repair took 2 weeks.

I kinda like the Note 8.0 and Note 10.1. Having a stylus is a good thing lol but price is the issue.

It can charge but does not show up in my computer when i plug it in via usb.
It also doesn’t show up in device mgr and unknown devices.

I tried to make sure it is MTP and USB debugging is off under developer options. But still cant..

Anyone can help?

I also would like to ask what micro usb to hdmi adapter u all buy for ur nexus 7? only slimport can work?
and isit gen 1 nexus 7 cant video out?

Hi I just updated my N7 II to Android 4.4, but Qvod player can't seem to work now. Does anyone faces the same issue? Quite sad, cos now gotta QVOD Merge the file then play it on xmbc player.. very troublesome and the quality seems to be bad.

Let me know if any workaround!

For PC/windows to detect the Nexus memory drive

Debugging must be turn "ON" NOT "OFF"
Once your debug is turn ON, your PC will be able to detect a new device being connected to your PC. Than your window will search/download/install a proper device driver to enable communication between devices. (They need to be able to speak to each other - drivers help in this aspect) Once window search and install the proper driver, your Nexus's hard drive space should be able to access via "normal access" under "My Computer".............

NO Video/HDMI out

Nexus both 1 or 2 also can't do video out to TV.


If need to root the Nexus

If you wants to use Thumb drive or memory card reader. Have to root it.

How to root ?

Just search for "rooting tools for nexus 7"
You should be able to find a "one click auto rooting script.
The same script also helps you to un-root if need to.

Same here - no update yet.

Still waiting . Every time"press" check for new updates" it says your device have the latest update already 4.3.

Mine is rooted.
Heard ppl say - no problem. Rooted also will be able to get update automatically.

Google nexus once we are online it will be detected by Google's centralized server.

I think it goes by serial number. By batches.
Have to be patient and wait - 4.3 is quite Ok after all no problem.
So for me actually only curious but no urgency.

You can use whatsapp for Nexus 7.

But when you go play market - it says your device is not compatible ?
NOT to worry. can install directly if you have the apps.

Where to find the apps ?

You can use your phone to make a backup apps of the whatsapp's apk.
Than copy it into your nexus than click to install. Or you can easily find a copy of whatsapp's apk online

The verification code will be send to your Phone.

Same for viber. Or Freepp.
viber and freepp can make free calls via apps to apps.
Can also make calls to home line or phone that don't use apps but must buy credits. Same goes to skype. Skype to Skype user calls are FREE.
BUT if wants to call home line, or freinds with no skype. Buy $10 credit can use for very long no expiry. That way can use Nexus as a mobile phone

Think every Brands are quite the same. Their agent service center services/repair charges are cut throat price.

There will be no perfect product. They fail sometimes. Its a reality we must face. Every brand , will also charge quite a bit when the item is n longer under warranty. I had my bad experience with Sony phone too.

When my touch screen becomes faulty. It was under warranty. Replaced wait for 3 weeks. Its free only inconvenient. Lucky thing got spare phone. After few months spoils again. This time, the customer service center say, assess the fault is $35. after that, they give you the quote cost for repair. They will say, its not a confirm amount. When they replace the screen if they found other fault, additional charges. They say, minimum for replacing touch screen is about $180. That is only if just replace the touch screen. All the seal and miscellaneous cost not included yet. Can expect more than $200 if need to sent to their service center to repair. So Ex. I decided to buy a new phone than to repair. Not worth. No warranty after repair some more

Just an advise. If you suspect its the battery is faulty. can go to those private repair shop to replace battery cheaper. They will be able to find a compatible model of battery to fit the nexus - much cheaper.

I asked one shop - if replace a Sony phone touch screen, how much.
They quote be all in plus workmanship and touch screen original from SONY one - ONLY $75 . Too bad I already bought a new phone after the service center tell me open end quotes that cannot be confirm. At least now i know. After warranty - don't go agent service center to do. Uless you willing to pay a lot of $$$. get a quote from private shop and than can decide if its worth to go ahead to get it repaired. if not than - no choice ===> Upgrade or change model

So as an advise. if your nexus no longer have warranty. Look and get quote from private shop that repair tablets. They will likely to charge you much cheaper than its agent's shop.

BUT its all up to you guys, The option is open for you to decide.

I think Sim Lim square those MIC tablet shop may have in house tech to do repair. No harm asking them for a quote.

There are also others around la. Even online ads flash here and there. If see those can take note of their contact. someday it might become handy when you need their services. At the very least you have another option.

open ur back cover.. check if the connection is off.. re plug and put the cover back.. power on.. easy... been there done it..

Just got the kitkat OTA. Failed to upgrade properly.

Decided to flash it using the factory image. Flash it via the fastboot and everything seems fine.

Now the swipe down menu for wifi/bluetooth not working. The home button also not working. Are these new features of kitkat?
