Just did a search on IMDA's equipment list. This is a precursor to launching any telco devices in singapore

And guess what Google GTT9Q is just listed TODAY 5th Jan! Meaning the launch locally is imminent! So What price locally? SGD849? SGD799?

My speculation is that it will be launched with one or two telcos and then 5G will be enabled for those telcos. And this will mean those with imported P5 will also get 5G turn on for those telcos.

https://eservice.imda.gov.sg/tls/searchEquipment.action

so to all the carohell flippers of US sets going at 1300... good luck.

HOPE IT'S TRUE!! I almost bought via UK Amazon yesterday but held back :s13:

If I recall correctly there have also been instances where phones registered with IMDA were subsequently not sold in Singapore still, though I can’t be sure about the frequency or extent of this happening.

Looking at the global shortage of supply (Amazon UK has not had stocks for a very long, long time), not sure whether we can really expect Google to bring Pixel 5 to Singapore anytime soon. But definitely hopeful.

flights in and out of UK are in chaos. Singpost just said they are stoping airmail to UK cos no flights. Google taiwan, japan, aust.. all got stocks.

hummm.... maybe stocks cannot ship to UK. sg "accidentally" get UK variant P5?? hahahahaha... my pure speculation.

Well. P5 getting registered today on IMDA's site is a tangible step. I looked through all the Google registration in the last 12 months on IMDA's site. And all are available in SG. Last phone before today's registration is for P4a. No sign of P4a 5G thou.

i suppose however it turns out.. we can all enjoy the show.
existing users of imported P5 stand to gain from 5G support on probably "selective" telcos. and people that had hold out for a local release gets their wish.

only the carohell flippers hoping to sell their wares at 1300 will probably be crying.... lol

Looking at the speed for Starhub 5G network on a iPhone 12 Pro, I'm not very interested in 5G atm..

iPhones would show 5G on the status bar but not actually connected to 5G, according to MKBHD. All this means is that 5G is available, but the phone will only connect to 5G if it deems it appropriate. So if you’re using that as a reference, it would not be an accurate gauge of 5G speed.

So if launched in sg, can buy directly from Google? Normally, if distribute to telcos normally have to sign plan like pixel 2 that time?

Prices on Amazon Uk and USA:

USA: USD 699 - https://www.amazon.com/Google-Pixel-Resistant-Smartphone-Ultrawide/dp/B08H8X23ZB

UK: £769 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Google-Android-Mobile-Battery-Resistant-Sorta-Sage/dp/B08JLS7MZ2

Although buying from Amazon UK have direct shipping to SG and US have to go through ezbuy shipping. Isnt Amazon USA still cheaper? Or am i missing something?

you probably need to check if mmWave/sub-6 bands supports local bands (IF eventually :s8: ) and whether there are any obstacles in getting from US.. eg. shipping charges ++ and going thru forwarder etc.

that UK price is not from amazon DIRECT. you are buying from a reseller on amazon uk. amazon uk is out of stock as highlighted by MANY here. But as always... no one reads...

based on registration on IMDA's equipment's list yesterday.
I'll say that it's not a question of if but when.

But hey.. it's a free world... everyone is open to their own interpretation.

Anyone checked last time when they registered pixel 4a with IMDA until the actual launch?

Sorry not I never read. I just don't understand how it works. Never buy from Amazon before. Thanks for clarifying.:)

Anyone has recommendation for launcher that works well with the gesture navigation?
