This one is quite obvious.
I did not view the whole video. The guys says Android uses more hardware RAM to handle better switching while iOS uses better software aspect to handle seamless switching. And he says, both are valid implementations?!
Of course the iOS is much more efficient and cheaper to implement. Packing more RAM is just not an efficient solution.
PS: I have never used an iPhone before but I really admire the way Apple designs their OS when I see my friends switch tasks on their iPhones.
Nope, IMO is not obvious, hence the biasness and assumption of people that Android devices are packed with more RAM hence they need more RAM to run. Moreover, Android devices are equipped with twice and even more RAM means it needs that much more RAM than iOS.
First of all on cold boot, this assumption is not true.
Secondly, this is true after running multiple of the same apps. However, the assumption that Android needs 2-4x more RAM than iOS to run is also wrong.
Based on the diff approaches, I don't see them as which is more efficient. I see them as valid solutions to a given problem based on both soft and hardware configurations. I do not believe one can be said as more efficient than the other. They are diff approaches, one using a soft, while another hardware, hence they can't be compared to be said which one is more efficient.
Cost wise I still believe slapping more hardware RAM costs cheaper than trying to R&D a soft based solution. Good luck trying to compare the cost between a hardware RAM and R&D cost of such soft based solution, not to mention the time the R&D will need to spend to come up with such a "perfect" solution.
