I was updating the play system and needed to restart the phone. Realised there's a percentage showing the updating progress. But still on May update 🤔

Support, though I feel the EU's 5y proposal is a bit more reasonable since phones do die out over time. If it's 7y, they need to also mandate that repair parts and service must be provided for up to 7y for each phone model. The EU should mandate it by law or be banned from from being imported to or used within the EU.

Hopefully it'll curtail the stupid practise some companies have of releasing the same hardware or minor adjustments of it under different sub-brands/models. It's not even funny when you see how Xiaomi and BKK do just that. Rather than release one product and support it properly with relevant developmental teams, one hardware configuration can be three or more different products under sub brands, making no sense at all.

Or contributing to the throwaway culture by stopping support after just 1-2y.

Found it rather strange that Google did not release Android 12 images with the launch of Android 12, a first. Rather they published the AOSP and will follow up in a manner of weeks.

At this rate, it looks like some Chinese phones will be first to market Android 12, rather than Google's own product line - this on top of all the customisations they have to do. Very puzzling action on Google's part.

They just took away a major reason for customers to support their Pixel line - if Google can't even support it promptly and properly, then why should we?
