really meh? I never tia gong this b4 leh. But I tia gong best consumed within 2 weeks of roast date nia. I usually finish 250gm within 1 week so should be ok.

Ya. $16 for 250gm. Their cheapest espresso blend.

I think you need to go around tasting shots to find out which blends suits you best. I'm also currently trying everything.

Tia gong MC4 is clump monster leh. That's y i prefer m4 to mc4. The dosing part helps break up the clumps. Have you calculate how much to bring in bo?
If you prefer doserless, can also check out local choices like the Eureka Mignon or Lelit PL53.

My friend has the doser one, he suggest to get the doserless.

I think for 240v very poor thing not much choices.

If only Mazzer Mini is avail.

Of course, FoTM is the Baratza Vario la...but this one is out of budget.

Don't listen to too much online reviews. Many are bias for commercial reasons.

Clumping depends on how oily is the bean, how fresh is it, the humidity level and the fineness used. You can't always blame your grinder for it.

The burrs used by many brands are almost the same and mostly compatible. If I've to choose between Mazzer and Macap , I'll pick macap simply cause its cheaper and it's easier to turn

Of coz. I wouldn't recommend if they're stepped.

Eureka Mignon

Doser are already known as "traditional" grinders, antiques .
As i always mentioned, for home or even commercial, doserless is the way to go.

Nowadays doserless are so fast, and it goes on demand to preserve your coffee better.
There's really very little reason for one to choose doser.

You also don't have to be too obstinate with getting stepless.

Every bag of bean, even if it's from the same manufacturer, from the same blend is slightly different.

In taste test, 80 percent can't even tell the difference between different blends. So im not sure how useful a few 0.x mm can make 1 tell the difference.

Thanks bro for the advice.

The Macap M2M M2T and MC4 all are "similarly priced" hence, might as well get one with a bigger burr and stepless.

If you really want to get a stepless, go for Macap.
It's easier to turn and the hopper is tinted, these are direct advantages.

Actually it's not always the bigger the better, particularly for domestic use. It's an entirely different environment from commercial.
From my knowledge and experience with coffee, i will definitely avoid large grinders for homes. In fact i'm stuck with one which i got as a farewell gift and i'll be getting a small grinder as soon i'm settled back in Aussie.

You don't want to have such a huge hoper for just 125-200 grammes of beans inside and your coffee oxidise more badly. You are also not suppose to purchase 500+ grammes of coffee for light use at home.

I just noticed of this M2, think it's new.
i think M2 is more appropriate for home use.

I'll probably consider rocky if i'm you since it's already available in SG. Though it's an old model, it's not out.

Wondering what is the nominal startup time for most espresso machine.

I read the silvia is about 30mins but can cheat her to be up in less than 10mins.

What about say the gaggia classic?

Silvia cheating method involves making the heating element come on by flushing water through the dispenser and the group. I don't see why you can't do the same for the Classic.

They have 3 types of blends iirc. The more expensive ones are the ones with brighter tones. I just went straight for the cheapest blend. Might try their 2 other blends next.

Actually small grinders, large grinders, they're all the same. As long as its an electronic/auto grinder, they all retain some coffee after grinding, which you have to do purging every 1st shot of the day. Only difference is the amount of grinds retained between the small and large grinders.

The bean hopper. For home use, it doesn't matter. You're not suppose to use the bean hopper at home! Do not use the hopper for storing beans. Doesn't matter if its suppose to hold 250gm or 1kg of beans, your bean hopper should be collecting dust in your storeroom. For home use, always weigh your beans b4, then pour them directly into the burrs, cover with something heavy like a cup to prevent the beans from jumping out when grinding.
