The Bezzera BB05 is listed at 599 so it is out of my budget, I will not buy with the coffee machine hence cant enjoy $100 discount.

If I'm not wrong all 3 are using 38mm conical burrs so grind quality should be similar. So it comes down to construction quality and usability.
I only have experience with the Lelit so I'll give my 2 cents. Although it's an all metal construction(except for the hopper), this grinder is quite light and will tilt/slide backwards when trying to grind into the portafilter. The plastic hopper is prone to crack at the neck if one isn't careful during removal. Sharp edges all around. Retention is about 6gm iirc. Grounds spits a little to the left when exiting the chute. Good grind quality otherwise. I usually just grind into a plastic cup then transfer into my portafilter.

The Precisco should have the least amount of retention. They have since upgraded some of the internal parts so it's more reliable now. Otherwise grab the Ascaso and use the money saved to buy some good beans.

Sent from Samsung SM-N910G using GAGT

Thanks for the honest opinion. It looks like the lelit also share some cons with the Ascaso imini (retention, flimsy hopper) however I believe the retention issue is much more serious with the Ascaso, people reports 1 single dose retained in the chute. Tap and tilt the machine after grinding seems compulsory.

I'll skip Bratza Precisco if it can break down that easily.

1 and 3 use similar burr, will pick the cheaper one.
Both have no timer though which won't be convenient to me.

I did not speak from my own experience but by looking at the reviews here: http://coffeegeek.com/reviews/grinders/baratzavirtuosopreciso
The Precisco is only rated 6.9 overall and the fact that a lot of people complaining about durability concern me.
If the machine dies during the 2nd year, I dont feel like 500 is gonna pay off.

I am still leaning toward the Ascaso and will likely get one in a couple of weeks time :)

Hi, this is my first post here. Im a newbie to espresso and so happy to see such a community here.
Basically Im considering to buy my 1st electric grinder for my espresso setup. Im currently using the Hario mini mill with stepless mod and was able to pull a few reasonably good shots (to me) so far. Its quite fun on weekend but on weekdays I feel it takes quite a bit of my morning time.

I have narrowed down to the following machines as I can buy locally, my budget is 500 max but he lower the better:
1. Lelit PL53: 500++ I really like this machine due to the great reviews but I feel like the local price is abit too high
2. Bratza Precisco: 499 nett, the reviews complaining that this grinder break down very frequently and thats holding me back
3. Ascaso imini: 374, this is an interesting one which I just saw at Tangs orchard. Price wise looks attractive. Ppl complain about the retention of coffee ground in the chute but I guess there are workarounds. Has anyone been using this?

Appreciate your opinions, I dont mind other options shipping from overseas if its still within the budget.
Thanks

Lelit prices low overseas, get it from states need power inverter. Her from Europe you don't need that why don't u look outside sg?

How about this one http://coffeeinaplace.com/menu/fracino/grinders/on-demand-piccino-grinder/
I have no experience and u have to pay for shipping. $320 w/o shipping. Might want to ask them for a quote.
I vaguely recall knockhouse was selling the k3t compak for about $600ish. Can ask them to quote too.

My experience with 38mm conic burrs is they run too hot at 1200rpm.

I already have a Bezzera in the pantry, my staffs are alright with the frothing, just bad in latte art.

I think the hardest part of making latte art is the milk texturing. For pouring you can watch some youtube videos, like chef steps espresso and seattlecoffeegear latte art university.

This is true. They do run hot after continuous usage for a period of time. But it does not apply for domestic usage where these class of grinders are designed for.

Burn out your coffee
This is a myth.
The majority of the heat generated is caused by the crushing of the beans, and the friction by the burrs cutting the beans. The duller the burrs, the more heat generated.
We roast coffee at temperatures over 200°C and I doubt that small amount of heat will 'burn out your coffee'.
What's happening instead is as the beans get heated up, the more malleable it becomes, and the less fines they produce during grinding. Cool beans are less malleable and thus more brittle, producing more fines. This is why after continuous grinding for a period of time, your shots run faster as a result of lesser fines.

I ever put my loaded portafilter in then went for a chat for a few minutes. The crema was gone and come out very thin.

Another time was a staff put a fresh 250g pack of the beans on top of the cup warmer and the coffee has much thinner crema too. The floral notes from the Ethiopian beans diminished.

Think heat do play a part.

I read and I think they said must go finer and they are using light roast. Not all are positive. Coincides with my issue of flowing too fast but it's not conclusive. If it works won't it supposed to work with all blend. No idea but I drink min medium roast to avoid the sourness most of the time.

I think anotherjim who does cupping made a valid point

It's also 10 for $30, i only use one every 1-2 months.

I bought Urnex's grindz from Amazon before, abt same price. The pallets is abit dusty n messy. One bottle of 400+ grams can also use abt the same of 10 times.

The Puly Caff clean out neater and easier to use with the individual sachets.

Wanted to get one but seller said someone taken all 4 on Monday :\

The fiorenzato is one hell of a quick grinder and video show almost no clumping at all.
