slightly off topic but i have a problem with my rancilio silvia. Whenever i turn on the steaming function the machine seems to be conducting electricity. Whenever i touch the machine on the metal parts, i feel electricity. There definitely seems to be a problem and the electricity currents i am feeling is getting strong hence the need for me to ask y'all about this. This didn't happen when i got the machine it started after about more than half a year since i got the silvia. Anybody can help??

Sounds like a loose earth wire. Maybe check the 13A plug that all the wires are secure?

Is the power cable removable? Maybe try another power cable?

Unfortunately it is not. Do you think its a problem with the internal boiler or electronics inside the machine or is it definitely a wiring issue? Sorry I have absolutely no knowledge in how electrical appliances work. Because if its the internal stuff which is spoilt, I may have to send it to repair

What do you guys think of Dritan Alsela's method of steaming milk in the video below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heKdbO6H86U

He places the steam wand to the side of the pitcher making the milk swirl in a circular motion instead of the more traditional "rolling" method where the steam wand is placed in the middle of the pitcher.

Ive been having a hard time steaming milk where the top about 1cm of the milk i make is more foamy than the rest of the milk in the pitcher. Like when i finish steaming and leave the pitcher to a side to wipe off the steam wand, there is a layer of foam sort of crusty like on top. I usually just swirl it to get rid of it but in latte art videos i see the milk is so shiny and smooth throughout. Any tips?

it sounds like a grounding issue. Its pretty serious, you should have your machine checked out. Otherwise may cause power trip and at worse at electric shock.

I'm no expert on electrical stuff either, but like lazy tiger mentioned it's most probably a grounding issue. If you're confident you can open up your machine to see if any of the wires are loose, especially the earth wire. Please remember to power off and unplug your machine from mains before doing so

I think you either froth too thick or you never managed to "roll", "fold", "mix" or "texture" the milk well enough. I faced the same problem in the past as well and my case would be frothing too thick. When swirling the pitcher (so call polishing the steamed milk), it should still remain watery. If you find it "heavy" to swirl, likely you frothed too thick.

Watery does not mean watery like the milk never frothed at all. It is just slightly thicker.
