Congrats good combo.

Other things to get you started:
0.1 gram scale (Absolutely essential)
VST or IMS baskets (Good to have)

Some recommended roasters:
Nylon - Lighter style espresso
Strangers Reunion
Tiong Hoe
Tiny Roaster
compound coffee

For some you can just order online
If not just take the trouble to go to the roaster, try a few espressos and chat with the barista for some tips on how to brew.

Compare natural process beans with washed ones to see which kind of process you like.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've managed to add the IMS baskets to my order just before they shipped my order out.

Was just at compound coffee last sat but they were closed - managed to smell some of the beans.
I quite like the one at Pacamara. Will get some and try.

Once you open the bag of beans, how do you store them?

Roll them up tight in the bag they came in and put it in an airtight container.

Pacamara not bad. Slightly darker style roast for their roadster blend.

oh and not forgetting other mail order like cafebond, squaremile.

Does anyone have an opinion about the Ceado E37SD grinder?

https://www.ceado.com/en/product/81.html

I've been using my trusty Compak K3 for about 7-8 years now. I only do single dosing and have developed a routine where I literally whack the grinder until the retained grounds fall out each time I brew, haha. A bit tired of it.

Been looking for a long time now for a replacement, and so far, in our local SG context, the Niche Zero doesn't ship here, the Monoliths, EG-1, Versalab are hard to get and have no support, and the HG-1 gets old real fast with all that turning. The Ceado Hero can be had, but at US$6500 and having 2 separate components, not really feasible.

Which brings me to the Ceado E37SD. Seems like it's the only feasible option.

Opinions?

I thought you have another Eureka grinder?

V30tqZQ.jpg

I do have an Eureka. I use it for pour over.

Same issue. I have to whack it about 15 times, HARD, to get the exact amount I put in.

So, with a purpose-built single dose grinder, especially something like the Ceado E37SD where it's really fast and easy to switch between larger and finer grinds without losing accuracy in between, I can replace both my grinders.

Saves counter space too.

Niche Zero Doesn’t ship here but I recall there is a distributor for the region. Not that they don’t wanna ship here directly but more likely the region distributor contract forbid them so.

Once HG-1 is season not old with all the hand grinding. I make 2-3 shots daily and have been doing so for 3-4 yrs.

You don’t have to wack them, didn’t somebody proposed blowing with a hand blower. 2-3 blow and done

If there is a local retailer selling the Ceado E37SD go check out yourself. No one perfect grinder for everyone

Off-topic, how much did it cost for the customised coffee workstations?:eek:

I tried looking to get a Niche Zero here, but to no avail.

Manual grinding of the HG-1 is not for me, knowing my "pattern".

I will be checking out the local Ceado dealer.

Not sure how to calculate. It was built when I renovated my home. It's just an extension of the kitchen counter. The more tricky part was deciding on what specific components I wanted and getting them into SG before the carpenters and marble people start building.

The counter is really custom for a plumbed-in LM Linea Mini, the specific knock box and the specific pitcher rinser. At the start, I only I knew wanted a plumbed-in white color Linea Mini and the overall dimensions of the counter. Once I had these 2 things, I searched the web for the perfect sized/style knock box and pitcher rinser that would make my counter look nice.

The knock box, shipped from US:
https://joefrex.com/collections/knock-box/products/counter-top-combi

The rinser, shipped from India:

Very nice set up.

As for the Ceado Whole latte love did a review. It should be good enough for home user. 83mm flat burr. Low retention. Cheaper but make sure there is local support. WOnt know when it will need to be serviced.

I suspect u might use it also for pour over. The grind is really very even. i feel large flats is better for pour over or French press.

Thanks for the input.

It'll be a step up from my current grinders for sure. I really drink pour over most of the time. The espresso machine only turns on when I have guests, which really is not that frequent.

I think I'll go for it.

Now, the question is, can I get one in white, haha....

There's a user on Carousel, got my LMLM from him and he does servicing on almost all machines, grinders maybe too.

Let us know the price for the Ceado if you've found one :s12: See if its poisonous enough...

Would hesitate to recommend the Ceado E37S style of grinders. These grinders are mainly best when the hopper is full. These grinders are designed for cafe volumes, modded to do single dosing.

When the hopper is not full with out back pressure from the beans, the grinder typically will have issues grinding fine enough for espresso especially for lighter roast. Conicals are usually more forgiving in this aspect.

I think I know who. There's only one guy bringing it in. He quoted me $2650. Now also poisoned by the LMLM wooden parts, haha.

Would you have any recommendations for single dose grinders in the <$3k range that's available here in SG and have support if something goes awry?

If getting locally, the only grinder I can think of is the ek43 which is best for single dosing..options are rather limited for purely single dosing grinders in sg.

I would get the niche it really designed as a single dosing home grinder from ground up.. I think AliExpress ships it internationally

Not that new carouseller, it's someone else offering used commercial machines.
But yes, those wooden parts are equally poisonous..

I've observed not-full hopper affecting bean consistency, need to try it out on my Eureka zenith... but yet I'm still suffering alignment issue when I swap out the burr to SSPs..

The EK43 is way too big to put at home. Spoils my home aesthetics, haha.

I'll dig into the Niche further.

All this swapping burrs and alignment and meddling around with stuff is really not for me. I'm mechanically spastic... I admire people who can.
