hi guys i now got a little problem.. i keep don get the so called correct extraction.

if i can extract out between 8-12sec then end at 30sec i only can extract 27gram of water
once i try extract from 6sec i can get 36gram at 26sec..

i cant extract 36gram within 8-12sec end at 24-30 sec :(
always either side run off hahahahaha
Don't quite understand your problem. What do you mean extract out between 8-12 seconds, or from 6 seconds? Are you counting your total shot time from the 1st drip in the cup?

For me to be consistent regardless of grind size I count total extraction time from when the pump is turned on so that includes any pre-infusion times.

If you are keeping all else constant:
- Amount of coffee in the portafilter, determined by weighing it on a kitchen scale, preferably to 0.1g accuracy
- Same grind size
- Same coffee beans

Then the variance in shot times could be due to how you prepare your puck such as how you tamp or break up clumps. Look up WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique, can use a paperclip). Otherwise there are 1892798 other reasons to explain the difference in shot times. It's not called a black hole for nothing ;)

Hi bros, I'm almost about to pull the trigger on bambino plus.

Main criteria:

1. As fast startup time as possible
2. Able to pull great shots with lots of crema

However, now I'm holding back as bambino is 54mm supposedly 58mm commercial grade is better.

Is there any machine that starts as fast as thermal jet tech on breville, but uses 58mm and can pull great shots?

BTW I started out on rancilio many years back but the whole long startup, warmup etc totally put me off... And end up I used nespresso pods for many years.

Now going back but wanna focus on convenience.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Already got a niche grinder.

Fast start is overrated. Just get a smart plug and you can set the timing to turn on.

I set my Rocket to turn on 25mins before I wake up.

am now considering Lapavoni lever machine.

Any negative aspects apart from having to manually apply pressure?

The machine looks good, small footprint, and technically can customize pressure profile (manually la).

I own a la pavoni. Manually applying pressure is not a negative for me.
It heats up in 5 mins. Once you get used to the workflow and basics it makes quite good espresso/milk based drink for 1 person. Easy to service myself if something goes wrong.

The shot output has been an issue for me. I usually get around 28g of output for 16-17g of coffee. May not work if you are looking for longer drinks.

5 minutes is probably the pressure gauge showing that is ready, for the grouphead to warm up in 5 minutes, don't think it's possible. If going by this, those E61 could be considered ready in 10 minutes, but in actual fact, the head takes at least half hour to warm nicely. :o

La Pavonic is single boiler, want fast and drink latte better get a heat exchanger. :o

Using la pavoni is different compared to a e61 grouphead. You don't wait for the grouphead to come to temp. Once the pressurestat cuts off the power to boiler, just flush some water. A temp strip on grouphead is recommended. As soon as the grouphead is at required temp. Pull a shot.

The problem is pulling the next shot. By this time the grouphead is overheated. So its really good for 1 person for 1 shot of espresso or latte at a time

I think you better off sticking to Nespresso if you want a fast start up.
Crema is more dependent on the coffee than the machine.

La Pavoni is even harder to control than your Rancilio.
Not only is the temperature really unstable, the pressure that you exert is hard to be consistent each time.

Anyone heard of morning machine?

Basically its like a Decent Coffee machine (full custom flow profiling), but using Nespresso pods format.

Curious about it, but the key limitation is nespresso pod format.

The only option is to get re-usable pods (if wanna use custom beans).

HOWEVER, I am wondering if the pod format (max 5-6g coffee) itself is the main limitation --> So no amount of custom profiling will really matter that much.?

Chotto... don't conclude lotsa crema = great shots so fast (unless that's your absolute preference in taste - try tasting crema on its own) Though I can say Crema adds back bitterness into the cup and for visual pleasure

You can get absolute fresh roasted beans (like a day old) and certain type of beans gives you crazy crema, but is it a good shot.. it depends

It's created by the owner of PPP Coffee, I wonder if you can go down to their outlet to try the machine. Would be interesting to try before you buy

I think the pressure profiling is just timing the pump to stop after the capsule gets punctured.

When you activate the pump and brew with your Nespresso, you may hear this "pop" as the aluminium capsule perforate. Once you hear this pop, you can stop the pump to "wet" or "preinfuse" abit before starting the pump again and let the extraction finish.

This technique was introduced more than a decade ago, nothing new. You can try doing this trick with your existing Nespresso. I recall that it gave me a more bitter cup with more astringents which i don't like and it is probably limited due to the 5g-6g coffee used like you said. :(

i got a flair pro 2 instead.... decided to save budget to get a better grinder first....

The super manual experience somehow helps me learn much faster than I did when i first played with rancilio silvia many years back.

Anyone knows where to get niche zero grinder in Singapore? I looked at Carousell but couldn’t find a local seller. Thanks!

so many thing to take note...

yes i also count the total extract time when thepump is on... then reached 6sec the first drip is out.. but then alot expert say better 8-12sec the first drip of water out then is the correct extraction.. anyway.. still learning..

What's your grinder? Prepping of coffee (wdt, spray, tamping etc) will vary. Humidity also affects your ground coffee. Different beans also extract differently. (Even same bean also will change in a day).

But then, can you notice the difference in taste between the two shot? Experts advice is for what type of bean? It seems they are advising on pre infusion timing?
