My extraction so far is okay, anyone using single baskets here?
My extraction is far better with a double.

I'm thinking of getting a distribution tool but not sure if it helps.

i use double+ basket for 18g with wdt tool
this cheapo hack works for me

the bigger basket acts like preinfusion since my machine no have.
it takes extra 2-3s until pressure build and also help keep grounds from falling out when distributing with wdt.

You mean you use 18g basket for single shots?

How much coffee you are using ? I'm using 8 to 10g for single. If I use that amount of coffee on double baskets,pretty sure it's going to flow too fast.

I use double basket for all my shots. Ard 20gm. I dun mind having double shot every morning to start the day

I tried single basket once by halving the dose, but didn make a good drink, the smaller dosing and the tapered profile probably makes single extraction more intolerant of little inconsistencies that a double basket might "hide".., didn't persevere after that ..

Oh okay, I'm using 16g to 18g coffee for double shots. No problem with doubles.
My basket says is 20g. So far double shots are easy.

But i'm trying to use single baskets for just a small single shot.
10g still acceptable, but down to 8g it's more sensitive to channelling issues

usually i make at night, place the shot in metal cup into freezer.
next morning, just add milk and steam together

taste still strong and save some morning time

dont keep in chiller compartment, taste loss is bigger.

Main coffee I make is milk based. Hardly drink Espresso. Have not tried filtered as well.

I'm looking to replace my grinder as I think grinder > coffee machine.

The Dose Control Pro just couldn't produce like the same grind each time i use it with different beans.

And one issue is whenever I use the bellow (mine has one added), the grind setting also turns itself as it is one unit together. Those who use below should know what I am referring to.

The usual to get for espresso grind are:
-DF64
-SD40
-Niche Zero
-Eureka Mignon Specialita

Headache as to which one to get.. Dont mind getting one that is used as well.

me using a grinder from taobao with dedica 685 hahha. think of getting a set from http://espressocoffeeshop.com rancilio v6 + specailita. where u intending to get ur grinder.

Different beans confirm wont be same grind setting..

I mean some beans are darker some beans are lighter..
So u cant use 1 setting for ALL beans..

Anyway my recommendation = Niche Zero..
haha.. so far mine has been doing well and with proper care (cleaning), my grinds are quite consistence with the same beans..

cant say for others as i didnt use before.

Even if you throw in the same beans it will still be impossible to maintain consistency from coffee's oxidation.

Read somewhere very true from I think home barista or coffee snob before. Grinder more important was something more true and came about decades ago when people used those cheap krups grinder with professional machines. If you get a good grinder with a crappy espresso machine, you cannot expect a miracle either.
