I am greasing the Bezzera Steam Joystick. It has become rough and sticky after much use.

Anyway, I found the super lube locally. Thanks!

Can I know where did you get your super lube? hard to find. HG one recommends super lube for the grinder.

alas.. after 1 week, i'm still on my porlex -_-

on a side note, the BOD cold brew thing just arrived. In my horror, to begin the brew, i'm supposed to use 8oz of beans (=226g) = 1 bag of coarse grind. I have to put it on hold as i'm on my porlex.

hey! what is FHA?

all the more you should get a proper grinder soon.. you'll take forever to grind a full bag of beans using your porlex

on a side note, it looks like that BOD brewer makes a lot of cold brew in one batch. if it's just one person drinking, it sounds very wasteful..

Found this with a bit of googling.
http://www.fishpond.com.sg/Electron...on-Multi-Purpose-Lubricant-90ml/0082353210305

Are you finding your HG One hard to crank already?

so far very smooth for grinding but the adjustment collar may need some lube. I replaced the o-ring as the previous one tore after I was too rough. The replacement o-ring for the adjustment collar lynn weber provided is narrower so adjustment is smoother with less drag but i wonder whether is it effective in preventing the grounds from getting stuck in the screw thread.

The hg one has been fully seasoned i think. grinding for espresso takes less than 8 secs for a 20 gram dose!

this article is interesting. To say nature is a well-regarded scientific journal is under understatement
http://www.nature.com/articles/srep24483

Interestingly the results seem to contradict previous experiments where grinding warms beans result in a narrower particle distribution curve because the softer beans produce less fine.

I subscribed to Joe Curious a few weeks ago. The order came today! Delivered personally by the boss Jia Qing.

Very nice info card on the coffee and roastery. A bit of history and info on the roastery, Brewing tips and tasting notes.

Do try it out as I think if this concept takes off it will help to expand the variety of quality coffee available in Singapore. May be a bit pricey but still cheaper than buying and shipping it yourself.

Support local businesses!

I got the trailblazer blend and i think its a high quality coffee. great coffee but did not have the fruit flavours i was expecting. maybe i'll grind slightly coarser for a faster flow. flow as a bit too slow.

Side issue, i busted my cheap American Scales weighing scale by spilling an espresso on it haiz.... Maybe should go with the acaia or get another brewista.

Speaking of brewista I bought mine from Alma at carousell and the boss was a great guy to deal with. The scale is solid and water proof. use it with my cremina and very useful with in built timer.

Also sharing the internals of the slayer

Thanks for the review! And that's one sick machine you have.. everyone here must be really envious :s13:

Do experiment with the volume of espresso and grind size. I recommend going a little coarser and stopping earlier, you should be able to get more of the brightness and fruitiness of the coffee.

That's what makes espresso fun anyway, there are endless possibilities to try!

On the topic of scales, AWS scales are so affordable.. I personally would just buy a few and replace whenever it's necessary. I still cannot bring myself to spend a few hundred on a Acaia :(

Yes I will try with the lever machine and see how it goes.

I agree about the acaia. Super high tech but I don't think I will use the blue tooth function unless I have my own shop and need to perfect my pour overs

Quite small for that price.
Don't think that 0.x grams make much difference to me.

Before my first cup of the day, I dump a few g of coffee retained inside the burr from the last use. This don't eliminate the process right?

Just offering an alternative to handgrinders like porlex or the super expensive (but good) HG-1.

Remember I mentioned about the ROK Grinder? I feel that it outperforms small handgrinders like hario & porlex, but probably only 20-30% the price of HG-1.

http://www.rokkitchentools.com/

Mine was from Indiegogo as initial supporter. Cost me about usd200+. But worth it, as I can grind seperate blends or beans. My usual will be grinded by my BB05, which so far is also a reasonably good grinder.

By the way, where to get the brewista scale here and roughly how much is it?

i recently tested a bsgp from a friend. its a disaster! i can't seem to grind fine enough at burr setting 1 and machine setting 1. the espresso under same technique was gushing out like water!! to be fair, my beans were stale about 1.5 months after opening. Could this be the reason? or the bsgp cannot make it?

Omg sette! maybe i shld invest in rok. is it ok compared to hg1

At 1.5months. My pull are also quite watery, and very little crema.

I dont know how consistently fine is the hg1, cause I only heard nothing bad about it, but never experience it. But my rok was sufficient to let me pull my espressos without problem.

For you though, you need something that can give you your consistency first. Get a machine for your main espresso output. Rok is my secondary, i.e other special blends or even robusta blends so I don't mess up my machine settings and beans in the hopper. It needs quite a bit of calibration that you probably have not grasp well now.

By the way, are you using the single or double basket? My beans weigh in at 13.5g on single basket, and 22g for a double basket, to taste optimal. Differs from machine to machine and from bean to bean.

Using mainly: Dutch colony, Joe and dough, highlander.
