Fuji is cheap at under usd$350, the price pt smells fishy compared to a usd$2.4 EK43 to be used for espresso. dont think u will get a smaller variant of HG one if its priced that low for that sort of marketing...

anyway, Fuji is clear it cannot be gain for espresso or things which requires very fine grind

The "perfect" home grinder.....
1. Doses accurate to 0.1g (Ala HG one, Baratza Forte)
2. Insignificant Grind retention and static (ala HG One, Forte, Vario)
3. Small and neat (ala Lelit pL53, mignon)
4. Powerful motor that won't break down (Ala Robur/K10)
5. Easy to dismantle, clean and reassemble. (porlex)
6. Even particle size ala ek43 (also able to go bimodal or unimodal depending on your mood that day)
7. Able to dump all the beans into the hopper without fear of going stale.
8. durable - (Robur/k10/k30)
9. Fast - triple dose in 3 secs (k30)
10. Easy to adjust grind and easy to revert (I'm leaning towards microstepped grinders for this) - HG one, some macap models.
11. Comforts you when you screwed up and pulled a bad shot...

"prefect" always come with a nice price tag. if he is looking at rocky or baratza encore. budget is......

yup its similar and I don't think your machine is a thermoblock system. Use a smaller pitcher. I used a 8oz pitcher for a silvia.

I just downsize my pitcher from a 18oz to a 12oz one. Hopefully that will help in frothing the milk.

I think common man also sells baratza. They don't recommend the encore for espresso through. Give a call to see if they have stock before going down.

Rocky ODG should be a better choice.
Macap M2D, Bezzera BB005, Compak K3 Touch Advanced maybe better.
Get those with timer.

Coffee Grinders,

The rancillo rocky quite cheap ehh, about 300 euros plus shipping i think. Very tempting haha. The bezzera going for $599 but with $100 discount voucher, cheaper than the compak k3. But which is better any recommendations?

Need to add GST.
No warranty and no idea the local agent will even want to service or not.

Many computer distributors already start to charge higher for parallel imports, some totally refuse to repair.

Rocky is a very old design but with decent reviews.
It's not stepless and a bit plastic though.

You can go to spineli at China square see how it looks like.

Yup i guess that's the downside of importing machine overseas ; warranty and repairs.

u confused,
Bezzera is $599, discount if U buy those $1k+ machine.

yes, warranty is an issue. U are responsible for the shipping fees.

The warranty they offer is not manufacturer warranty directly thru them.

Singapore is terrible, becoming like china.
- refuse to support of parallel imported goods!

Then again what the chances of the motor and electric components failing? I not finding such cases. Its a risk U have to take. I buy used grinder its older than 5yrs old and still running like a rock! changing burrs U can do it yourself, unless U not been cleaning and burrs get stuck like crazy U have to take it in. I wouldn't expect them to fail within their 2-3yr warranty.

or u get a Euraka Mignon in Malaysia for 1200 Rm or sgd470. can siam GST I bet. just have to find the store in JB. commonly retail at 1.6K but can be bargain down to 1.2k. suppose to be better than Rocky.

try this place too

From what i've been reading, you had a problem with milk at first, that was your initial concern. Why rush for a grinder?

$500 for a grinder isn't a small amount for a student.
Since you are a student, i think just get a slightly better hand grinder which is affordable will do. Not sure those Hario will work.

No point getting a highend grinder to match your current machine, doubt it will work well either. You have a grinder don't you.

If you are expecting the best, you'll still need to upgrade both machine and grinder.
Anyway, i think local support is very important, especially for something mechanical.

$400 machine and now thinking of $500 grinder.. Hmm
If he knows he will sure to upgrade come grad and working say 2 yrs
Getting an expensive grinder maybe ok, really depends on comfort zone. I don't know if he makes coffee for 2 or 4. Just himself a cheap hand grinder will do just wake up 15 mins early to grind beans

Hand grinder $60 each, and its pretty nice as it is for 1 person serving.
personally cos i dun hv time, i just pay for a $60 machine grinder. not the best of the world but equally gives me a decent cuppa of long black

$500 is nothing to ppl here, not uncommon ppl here commonly uses Rocky that like $500 already

Otherwise we are talking 500-800 grinder
More extreme ones it's like 1.6k grinder and its hand

U not making espresso right? Black coffee is siphon? Chemex? Drip? Moka pot? Turkish?

Will do trying moka pot this dec. it's my camping or cabin way of making coffee

some have come a long way for coffee drinking

2 years ago, bought nespresso citiz

still using it, still good

unlikely to get semi professional machines, they are great, just not something useful for the family now

maybe in a few more years

to those who have anything more sophisticated machine that nespresso, have fun and drink up

cheers

my health has deteriorate so much so that since 15 years back i cannot drink expresso anymore, unless i wan to hv to stomache rupture.

yea, drip or french. I am more realistic, hobby is good. but has to be worth the cent and within one's means. like if there is local support is a good example.

I own a nespresso citiz 5 years ago :o, serve me very well as when i need a good cup for the work n studies late into dawn hours. cost me $500 aud back then, i was very very poor back then, after 3 months, my losses are recouped!!

i will consider a real expresso machine when i own a landed ppty with my family :) alone drink no feel. with family, its different
