do you know how much alipay and wechat pay charge in china?
Up to 0.8% for different tier. Need to spend $625 to get 2500 points to get $5 voucher.
i think is about 0.4% only
Depending on the points awarded to the tier u are on. For platinum it is 4 points per $1 spent. For new or silver tiers, they are at 2 points per dollar spent hence 0.4 to 0.8% range.
Can stretch the value further if redeem during flash sales.
I can request a physical GrabPay card. However, it needs to pay S$10. Is it normal?
Yes it is a new requirements now. However, if you spent $1000 within 180 days with your card, the amount will be refunded back to your wallet.

1k in 6 months should be not hard
Not sure whether 1k must be paid by physical card or all transactions linked to grab wallet.
What transactions qualify for the $1000 spend to get my deposit back?
All GrabPay Card transactions at online and offline merchants will be considered for the $1000 cumulative spend.
GrabTaxi, GrabFood, GrabExpress, QR Payments, or transfer transactions to your friends does not qualify for the $1000 cumulative spend.

Given the very limited use cases for this card.... it's quite difficult i think.
I guess that's why they don't want people to just apply and don't use. So the $10 will go towards the cost of the card if the person does not use the card.
It is a bit silly of them. They are a startup and they are in the expansion mode. They are being penny wise pound foolish here. If they give a card, to everyone who requests, there are chances people actually use the card. But if they tell people there is a fee, chances are people will be pissed off and not apply at all.
