That time i went got road closure in the old quarter then had to detour and the grab driver asked for 45k instead of the 25k when booking was made

I am lucky as I only paid the amount as stated in my booking. Only the price has gone up during peak hour but is the amount shown in the Grab apps when booking and no last min increased.

Just go with Mai Linh, Vinasun or CP
Otherwise just take Grab car and pay in cash

Only pay according to the amount stated in the booking. iirc Only time they add amount is when they enter or exit from the airport.

use credit card or grabpay is indeed cheaper. but for some, they might prefer pay cash instead, for security purpose.

no lah.... its the airport entrance gantry fee. iirc its like 10K-12K VND
its like our ERP charges when we take grab in Singapore.
erp charges will be added to the passenger at the end of the ride.

wait till you kena those "black-hearted" grab drivers

if you are a Platinum grab user, then the chances of getting such "black-hearted" grab drivers will be greatly reduced.

anyway... vn is a country whereby it is still advisable to use cash

They will just ok ok... After hang up, all throw under carpet... Bo garment at all.

Must get someone to speak Vietnamese to them then they will take action

1 nite should be enough. I went for 2D1N Halong Bay cruise. They will bring us for sea activities and island hopping. All inclusive in the price.

Just came back from Hanoi. Had a very noice holiday there.

We took a couple of tour from a tour agent recommended in this thread. Both trips went well.

Can be quite chilly on certain days, with slight rain.

20k vnd is v little to us but it's just irritating. Only one bad encounter fortunately.

The timing for both airlines are equally bad especially flying to Hanoi.

SQ is 9am and 3pm @ T2
VN air is 1 pm and 330pm @ T4

Unless you willing to take scoot early morning flight to hanoi

Imo inflight Service definitely no fight with SQ.

Plane wise. Vnair uses the small a320
Biz 2-2 config
Eco 3-3 config

SQ uses bigger A330-300 plane
Biz 2-2-2 config
Eco 2-4-2 config

So SQ flight to Hanoi offers Eco, premium eco and biz.
Vn air only eco n biz

Food wise... vn air is decent but no fight with SQ

Entertainment wise. Vnair totally no individual seat IFE system. No fight with SQ

Seat quality older than SQ
Still hoping to be able to try VN air new A320neo...so far no luck

But vn air airticket is more affordable than SQ
