my god, they really shipped the hdd oversea to repair? it takes so long lol..

anyway for my case, after sending a full description email to WDC, they seems to have update on my status.(well, at least it indicates hdd is not lost after all)

Collected my HDD today at their ulu service centre.
Sent my 2TB HDD last month and they gave me back a 3TB sealed manufactured dec 8 2012.
Asked the service guy if it is the same model as i am going setup raid and he said yes. :s27:
Now i have to set them up as standard drives in my nas. :s27:

Why not you use the 3TB to trade with a 2TB one on the forum and see if there are any luck or not?

best is to bring ur hdd to Flextronics directly for RMA, sent in on 19-Dec, got it delivered by FedEx on 24-Dec.

Remember to print out RMA Premailer and the RMA Label for faster processing Flextronics.

You can send by post, postage is about $2.55. If your hard disk has stuff like those of Edison, never send for repair. Bake it in oven for securely destruction.

To all you guys with a broken Western Digital drive,

I suppose like me, all of you are very pissed with WD right now. But before you gave up on salvaging your precious collection of mp3s and movies and RMA that hdd, please check to see if your drive is a 1TB Caviar Black WD1001FALS-00E3A0 made in Thailand. You can see this on the white label on the hdd. If you have one, please PM me and perhaps we can help one another.
