Issue resolved. :o
The Philips ish a LED (hd ready) tv. Need to plug in the trio of red/white/yellow cables, else ‘no signal’.

Hmmmm.... perhaps try to set your STB's resolution to the lowest possible on the new TV, then bring it back to the old TV to try the HDMI.

Such STB is troublesome so many people have sign up Pay TV.

I think it applies only for some of the older TVs with older HDMI specs not able to support modes like 1080p or 1080i. Some cannot even support 720p.

But it's probably just a phase. Newer TVs will not have this problem liao.

Then again, if buying a new TV, might as well buy one that has a integrated DVB-T2 tuner and do away with the STB liao.

By using the AV input (red/white/yellow cables ) to the tv, you are missing out on the more detailed picture resolution of digital tv. To save all the guessing here of what the display resolution is, perhaps you may wish to let us know the model no. (can be found at the back of the tv).

That's good. Based on the pdf, your tv has a display resolution of 1366x768p which I think can support the output from the set top box through the HDMI port.

Click on the link to download a soft copy of the NMS Set Top Box User Guide if you don't have a copy.

Plug in the HDMI cable to the tv set input, switch on power and follow the instructions there.

Take particular attention to page 9 of the guide on TV System where you can choose the video resolution manually if the auto doesn't work.

Hopefully that will settle your issue.

What's the brand/model of your set top box?

Do you mean that you now have to re-tune every time you off and on the power? If so your stb is probably faulty.

I don't have set top box. Antenna directly connects to TV

have you connected power to antenna? you should be able to see a lited blue led on the antenna.

if yes, check the signal quality of the channel, make sure it is high enough (higher than 70% or green level for some tv). Ignore the signal level.

if the level is not high enough, move the antenna until you find a good spot.

Hi all, recently I have not been able to watch Channel U for some reason.

The other channels work fine but just not Channel U, it would show distorted screen with noises. We think it could be because Channel U switched to no.7.. how do we check the channel's signal as well? How will that help?

Using a Funke antenna to my TV directly. :) Anybody has any recommendations/advice?

Is the blue LED on the antenna lited?

You should be able to find out how to check signal quality from your tv manual.

The signal should be near 100% because you have an active antenna. Try to get signal quality higher than 70%. Move your antenna if the quality is low.

Hi yes, the antenna has a blue light. Shall try to look for the tv manual tmr..but if all other channels work fine, wouldn't that mean that the issue lies with the channel that is having problems?
