Tks for the detailed explanation. So you are suggesting the prob lies with the dac rather than the earphones. I'm hesitant to buy another dac coz not sure if it's compatible with Samsung phone... Wondering if I shld just get a cheap usbc earphone like moondrop jiu. I only use phone for podcasts and zoom calls. Have dedicated pc speakers and dac for music
moondrop jiu $30 plus

if u don't mind trying another dac, can consider a cheap one below $10, one example below
https://shopee.sg/JCALLY-JM08C-High...for-Android-Mobilephone-i.66630848.3359899433can search jcally, they have a few models to choose from

Do you know if this dac is compatible with Samsung S23? Coz I'm worried about buying another dac that either doesn't work with the phone or has heat up issue, that's why I was thinking might as well get the moondrop

you have to physically test to confirm, all those shops like sam audio, zeppelin, jaben should have dongles to try but those are normally the mid~high price ones.

don't expect to find those $10~15 dongles there

dac heating or draining battery fast is just the way the audio design is implemented, cheap or expensive dac also got warm/hot and cool ones.
expensive dongles also have those that go all out for audio quality but suck your phone batt dry fast

I see, totally noob on how these dac dongle works. I will get the jcally JM6 pro to test. Prob an overkill for KZ zst. If good, may upgrade to soundmagic E11c later. Not going for higher price range dac since not really using my phone for serious music... Will report back to see if it runs cool 😁

- Your rig (handphone)
- What type of usage (music)
- File format used in your source (dont know what this is, i listen to spotify)
- Genre of music you listen to (classical, chinese, jap song)
- Headphone / earphone type: Not sure what this is as well, but i choose headphone
- Other requirements (if any): compact in size and light. Easy to keep in normal business bag, hopefully wireless and noise cancellation)
- Budget (in figures) 100- 400+-

Just an update, I tested jcally JM6 pro with Samsung S23. Runs cool and def a sound upgrade. The UHQ upscaler option is now activated whereas with Baesus dac this option was unavail. Tks bros #caterham7 and #chromehead for your advice!

Hi, i am looking for a wire headset for office use, can only use wire 3.5mm jack as company laptop's usb port only support plug n play, unable to install any software.

Any recommendation? Budget wise $200 or less...

Hi Guys, saw the other custom in ear monitors thread and got scared by the price.
Din know nowadays these in ear thingy can go up to few grands.

Btw, i have an old KZ AS10 + their Aptx bluetooh module (hang around your neck kind).
Wondering if nowadays there is such combinations with ANC, IPX55 etc?
Budget say under $100~

CIEMs has been around for ages & was once raved upon for it's noise isolation & sound quality. But with latest ANC, spatial audio & bluetooth technology, they seemed to gone obsolete & is a thing of the past already.

I own the totl earbuds (wf 1000xm3/4/5, Sennheiser momentum 2/3) and the sound quality is nowhere near iems and ciems.

want listen to proper music:
High spec dap + decent iem + cable (if got a lot of $$ to spare)

I still have my half a decade old ciem & some cans but sold my other iems & dap. Only occasionally take out & listen.

I have joined to some considered the "dark side" convenience over old school audio goodness. Bluetooth & ANC too convenient already. Basically my phone is my dap now 🤣

Haha for me I also use streaming services like Apple Music, use dap to download music from apple music, play on dap. Haha yes I quit the iem world awhile back but recent daps have the ability to enhance the listening experience from streaming apps, used to be able to enhance the downloaded internal storage songs only etc.

Have been out of the dap game for many years. Despite as you mentioned that recent daps being able to enhance sound quality of music streaming apps such as apple music. I'm still quite fond of bluetooth earphones. Wired iems seems to be a hassle (for me) 🤣
