I read with some interest regarding the conflicting views on verification of one's identity as well as verifying the bank officer who is calling. It would be useful to note that such methods of phishing are already commonplace.

Similar scams are run on Amazon where rogues probe and obtain information from Amazon's customer service.

I personally am careful when I receive calls from people claiming to be from banks or any other company asking for "verification" simply because a rogue will use that same information you provide as "verification" to verify themselves as you when they call the bank to impersonate you. It would be wise to verify that the caller is indeed from the bank.

Interest calculation is based on Value Date ie 7 March.

I transferred out on 6 Mar, but online banking says the transfer out value date is 7 Mar.

Wld the amount transferred out still earn interest on 6 Mar (not asking about 7Mar)?

As the effective/value date is on the 7th of March, you should be earning interest for the 10K on the 6th of March.

You do not need to have a Securities account to open a CPF Investment account.

Got some question,
1)I bought some overseas stocks from malaysia, when I receive the dividend, it auto convert the dividends to Singapore Dollar into my OSPL Trust account.
Is there a way to ensure the dividend received stays at the foreign currency and do not auto convert to SGD?

2) If I buy stocks in malaysia and set the settlement currency in MYR for example, can I just bring cash in malaysia ringgit to the counter at 1st floor, OCBC Centre South for settlement payment?

If you are a non-Malaysian and wish to receive dividends in MYR from Malaysian stocks, you would need to complete both the "Auto Trust" and "Declaration Form for Non resident Status" forms.

Kindly PM us your email address so that we can email the forms to you. Upon completion, you may either bring the original forms to our OCBC Securities’ counter at 1st floor of OCBC Centre South or mail them to our office address for further processing. T

Our counters do not accept cash in MYR. To pay for trades settled in MYR, You would have to issue a MYR cheque drawn from a Malaysian bank (e.g. Maybank, OCBC Bank Malaysia etc).

Quick question -- why do you guys use access code instead of allowing self assigned login username? Wouldn't it be easier to remember? You've probably got the most advanced voice recognition customer service hotline but you can't seem to sort out this clunky internet banking/mobile banking?

You could actually change your access code via Internet Banking.

After logging in:

- Place your cursor over "Customer Service"
- Select "Change Access Code"
