Anyone has high LDL ? mine was 5.47 , discovered while doing army HSP / FFI at age 35. MO down pes me for a year stating my cholesterol too high and unfit. HIs recommendation is to seek doctor and take medication. im slightly overweight 170/ 75kg should i take medication for my case. Anyone can advise base on their experience.
5.59 for LDL, 7.65 for total cholesterol was tested during HSP during 2017. I also got down pes for one of the year due to high cholesterol but I can't remember which year.
Can't remembered my weight but it should be lesser than 70kg, 174cm and I was on low carb diet that time. I was using LC to reduce weight during 2016 and the weight came off quite easily but the cholesterol was tested to be high during the annual check up. The cholesterol went up even higher during the HSP during 2017.
Realised saturated fats spiked up my cholesterol/LDL but I did a few more testing. During HSP in 2018, the LDL dropped to 4.54, just by eating less saturated fats.
HSP during 2019, LDL dropped to 3. Throughout the journey, all achieved with diet changes. For me, it's less saturated fats since I'm a hyper responder to saturated fats and less meat. But everyone body is different so what works for me, may not necessarily works for you.
My recommendation is to read widely. Don't get lured in by the claims of a certain best diet, or food. Be willing to take more frequent tests to check if certain changes to diet works or not. Lipid test is pretty cheap. Lastly, be strict in your food intake. Eating healthy 5 days and then indulge yourself with fried food over the weekend just defeats the whole purpose of trying to heal yourself through diet changes.
