Wow thanks for the in-depth response!

I’m looking to future proof with this next purchase, so am looking for a 4k 120hz with HDMI 2.1 inputs…so the U7G doesn’t make the cut…

Was really hoping the U8H could gimme the specs I need for a budget, but looks like I should not take the risk with the IPS panel….any other models you think I can look at for this price point? Im looking for 65”…
Agree with ferocity, you can check out LG thread, people are getting close to or even matching price of TCL C835 for LG C1. Really should check it out if you are getting a tv now.

At the same price point of the U8H there is currently:

Sony X90J 65" - *If you can wait, the 2022 X90K is very likely to be a significant upgrade from the 2021 X90J as per early reports, the amount of Local Dimming Zones will be increased from 24 (X90J) - 48 (X90K). The peak brightness for a 2% window has been measured at 1100 nits +- based off these early reports as well but we'll have to wait for RTINGs and HDTVTest to confirm this. As it has just launched in SG this week, you probably have to wait till the end of the year for the price to drop close to the U8H.

If you wish to increase the budget:

LG C1 - LG has currently the best HDMI 2.1 implementations with less severe hardware related bugs. EDIT*The only major reported issue so far would be the raised black issue while VRR is active. But other than that there seems to be minimal complains in the LG C1 owners thread at AVSForums and RTINGs/HDTVTest.
Additionally because its an OLED, annoying LCD TV related issues such as the Local Dimming System being disabled or nerfed while VRR is enabled, will not be present on the C1 since the individual pixels are self-illuminated. The main cons for OLEDs would be Burn In so if your main usage would be to game with tons of static content or watch TV channels with static elements on the screen than its best to stick with an LCD TV instead.

Alternatively you could wait for the 2022 Samsung TVs to see if their line up goes full VA panels this year. *Samsung TVs do not come with Dolby Vision support.

I went to read on the TCL C835 and it looks like the next best alternative...but don't seem to have any local pricing or even release information yet. If they are priced close to the main stream brands, then may not make sense liao....

Just bought the U7G 65" for $1249 from Shopee yesterday. The flash sale plus vouchers makes it so worth while.

Let's stick to 2022 models or we can merge this thread into the main Hisense thread since there is very little real 2022 talk...

Anyone here using PS5 console for U7G and managed to enable VRR? The VRR support was released for PS5 just a few days ago.

Probably hard to get an answer but trying my luck lol.

I don't own a PS5 to be able to test but i did some reading. The U7G US variant is tested and verified to be working with PS5 vrr. The U7G SG variant is also suppose to support vrr but PS5's implementation requires your tv/monitor to come with hdmi 2.1 and i think here-in lies the problem.

If you check SG Hisense spec list for the U7G, they state "HDMI Type 4K @ 60Hz with HDCP Version 2.2" but never specifically mention HDMI 2.1 compliance. But if you check malaysia and thailand hisense website (which sells exact same U7G variant as SG), they explicitly state the hdmi ports are only 2.0.

Guess this is another example of shaddy word play on the part of Hisense SG.

Reddit post for tv/monitors tested on PS5 vrr

Thanks, I also agree the problem lies with the lack of HDMI 2.1.

I was hoping that there's VRR up to 4k60hz at least. Apparently VRR is possible on PS5 even with HDMI 2.0 (saw some successful results on reddit posts)

Not a deal breaker but would have been nice to have that VRR feature working on PS5.

What does it mean when you don't have VRR? Means you cannot play PS5 at all???

Anyone who bought a U7G(SG variant) can help see if 4K at 4:4:4 text is blurry in this image?
