Agoda's headquarters is in Singapore. The company is based at the UOB Plaza, 80 Raffles Place, Singapore 048624.

A fraud occurs when a company advertises, sells and collects payment for a non-existent service, in this case: hotel room that does not exist for the dates booked. Customers are inconvenienced, and the hotel is denied the rightful revenue from this customer who has to book elsewhere.

Not surprised.

and just last year they had hiccups with payments to the hotels

time to switch to booking.com.

luckily i always use agoda ... and it has been flawless
everytime also no problem.

I switched to Trip.com recently
coz
85% of the time, the hotel rates are much cheaper

and even during short booking period, the airfares are much better.

Agoda used to be my regular site for hotel booking , now a lot lesser

Trip.com for the win. :s12:

3rd party gives them much more internet traffic exposure ba . Lots of discount and membership tier also .

Direct usually is to rip off loyal local customers lol.

must compare, a few times. Direct can be cheaper. Kid you not.

Did that for okinawa. Compared agoda , booking com. Then direct r much cheaper.

only 1-2 encounters though. :s13:

i got scammed by agoda before too.

booked a suite in the thailand hotel. description, pics, all showing suite. During checkin, hotel told me the local rep only booked a normal room. Called agoda but they said there is nothing they could do.

For normal rooms, i think agoda is ok if the savings is substantial. Otherwise, if you are looking at other room types, etc.... better go direct. nuff said.

yah. Usually I just look at google map , the location/train station nearby , narrow down a few hotels

activate shopback , open the booking, trip, agoda & direct hotel sites , keyed in the dates. And compare prices. :s13:

doesnt take much of the time. Less than 1/2 hour gao dim. :s12:

Prices through shopback referral link is more expensive than clicking from gsearch or tripadvisor :ROFLMAO:

I only received scammer message impersonate from the hotel that my bookings r cancel and ask me click a link to get refund

but the links looks super weird , eg. The letter “o” is number 0. I don’t hotel name will use number 0 to replace the letter o.

emailed to Agoda & hotel direct.
both deny any booking cancelled. Ask me don’t click the link. :s13:

but with the 4-5% rebates you factor in vs direct prices , u still have some savings.

I remembered I calculated before. :s13:

I have zero loyalty to any of these platforms. Whichever is the cheapest.
